This is a cute and cozy story about a mother reminiscing and telling her daughters the story of how she met and fell in love with a fellow (now-famous) actor when they started in a play together at a small theater. It is nostalgic - set during peak COVID quarantine, when the whole family is living together for the last time in a New England home. People who romanticize New England will love this book. And Meryl Streep does a lovely audio narration.

I understand why people like this book. It just didn't hold my attention. I've lived in New England my whole life, and the heavy nostalgia and romanticism wasn't much of a draw. The central love story seemed interesting and I definitely would have enjoyed a book all about the mother's life as an actress.

I let my library hold expire before I could finish it. Maybe I'll come back to it.

Listened to this on audio, read by Meryl Streep, which made it all the better. Absolutely loved this story of how we can find great joy in a simple life.

This was my first ever audio book so it was an interesting experience to say the least, because I am so used to only listening to like music or podcasts while driving.
This story was so different than anything I have picked up in the past few months. It was refreshing to step away from big fantasy books with tons of world building, or romances with heartbreaks and third act break ups.
It told the story of a couple and a family; how their stories are all connected and how it all came to be where it was at the end. I also found very interesting how much detail was put into this story surrounding Michigan like Travers City and Flint.
This book has 1) inspired me to pick up more contemporary/literary fiction books and 2) listen to more audio books.

I listened to this book on audio and I think Meryl Streep made the book. If you read it in physical form I think it would be a bit boring and hard to get through, but Meryl was a star and had me hooked from start to finish.
