I was expecting an underwhelming story, especially with the played out trope introduced in the first chapter, but I was quickly hooked. A new favorite that I will revisit.
Fantastic!
Not at all what I expected, and here I was all set to pass on it. The Wizard’s Butler is a complete and wonderful surprise, drawing you in at page one and leaving you searching for extra magical pages after you’ve finished. If you’re expecting dragons and battles of dueling dwarves and gnomes, you won’t find it here. This story is subtle, and battles legal and one mythical. Think Downtown Abbey or Upstairs Downstairs with characters of special abilities. It is filled with characters that I miss already. I especially miss the pixie’s and fairies. If you wee folk care to visit, I promise all of you a wee dram every night. Can’t wait for the next one!!!!

So good!
One of the best stories I've read!
Starts out like an ordinary story, but then the magic slowly creeps in. Before you know it, you find yourself immersed in a tale of transformation (Roger becoming a butler), family greed (the neice) and magic (Joseph Shackleford).
Highly recommend this and the audio!

The GoodReads cover is so ugly for this book! I can’t explain why this one hooked me so much. I really enjoyed it, didn’t want to put it down and hope the author continues the series.

What a delightful tale! Very well written and just plain fun!
Greedy, rich, bitch niece is wanting to declare her aging uncle incompetent so she can lay claim to his wealthy properties. Probably a common story, eh? Except uncle is a crafty wizard, though he does have an issue. Niece hires a young, kick ass ex-Army medic, ex-EMT to become a butler to the uncle. Butler sides with the uncle, as he learns his important duties. One of which is do not piss off the pixies and be sure to reward them with an occasional saucer of whiskey left on a counter overnight.
I am still smiling from reading this wonderful story.
