I’m really not sure why we needed such intense descriptions of the weight of every woman encountered by the main character in this book, even those who don’t even speak. Or the long, pseudo-deep passages about how his wife has aged and thus isn’t “his Laurie” anymore. Women are not supposed to look any different than they did at 17 for the rest of their lives, I guess.

I just don't know what to think about this book, I was really excited to read it and then it didn't grab my attention as much as I thought it would.

As the story unfolded I just kept having different ideas about if Jacob was innocent or guilty, I wanted to believe that he was innocent and that Andy didn't really believe his son did it but the actions just didn't match up to that idea. What really got me was towards the end when they seemed like they were getting their family back and becoming a normal family again only to have Hope disappear. I would have liked to know what was going on with Laurie at the very after the accident and how she was getting on with her life following that deadly crash

This book really was a mess

Really enjoyed the novel. I found the ending predictable, but still very well written. I like when I can figure out a book but it still has enough twists to make me think I could be wrong. HATED the prosecuting attorney, and wanted to reach in the book and put a sock in his mouth. Overall, great read - would recommend.
