I won The Witch Hunter through Goodreads giveaway. I haven't read a book so gripping in such a long time, I couldn't put it down! The characters evolve from page to page and the story intensifies which each word. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Young Adult novels. It not only has the fantasy aspect but also the romance aspect which makes it ideal for young adults like myself. I have a feeling this will be one of those books that I will reread through out time and I'm so glad I got to read it.

Amazing first instalment in a series. The fantasy aspects based on real events had me glued to the pages. I can't wait to see where this story goes. After many years I have finally found a book about witches which I can enjoy just as much as the Harry Potter series.

DNF at 42%.
It lost the magic. Maybe I'll try to re-read later...

Picked up the arc for [b:The King Slayer|27161833|The King Slayer (The Witch Hunter, #2)|Virginia Boecker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1459112048s/27161833.jpg|45412052] and needed to read this first. While I initially wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it, the story sucked me in right from the start. The characters were interesting, loved the setting and the concept of the witch hunters working in secret was a nice touch. The fast pace of the story helped and before I knew it the book was done. Good thing I have the next one ready to go!

Toller Plot, durchgehend spannend, fantastische Charektere und viel Gefühl. Einfach großartig ♡

The Witch Hunter is a mellow debut that promises a strong follow up.

The Witch Hunter follows the story of Elizabeth Grey, one of the finest witch hunter of her time till she is arrested for procuring an herbal medicine that can only be made by witches. For that reason landed her a death sentence. Burning at the stake.

But an aid came her way when the most powerful wizard in the kingdom, Nicholas Perevil agrees to help her in exchange of a great price. She must break his curse.

Every person in Nicholas’s cult does not have any idea of Elizabeth’s former profession. This a deathly game she is playing.

We all have a fair share list of books where we could not quite determine how we will rate it. It is like we are almost at war with ourselves. That is exactly me with The Witch Hunter. This book is not what I was anticipating it to be, and that is not necessarily a bad thing per say. I thought this story would have a strong emphasis on magic, hunting and intense swordplay, but in the end I got a very different outcome.

The Witch Hunter is actually fun. It is not about angst and bloody deaths, but it is filled with humor, romance, a group of characters holding their hands and having an adventure. Similarly to a road trip in contemporary YA. Imagine that picture and one will exactly get what I’m painting.

The characterization is impressive. I adore everyone and I love the lighthearted banter and tension. The only thing that held me back is, sometimes it could be underwhelming. And while I adore this fresh new faces, I was not emotionally attached to them.

I am holding out the sequel will be much more compelling.

The Witch Hunter is an entertaining debut, pack with delightful characters and romance.

I read the novella The Healer prior to reading this book, and it has its pros and cons. In The Healer, you see the beginning of the book from John's perspective up until Elizabeth wakes up in the beginning of the book. I think I liked the insight into John's mind it gave it, but it might have been better to read it after finishing The With Hunter.

" How did you do it? You weren't strong, not like Marcus. You weren't ambitious like Caleb. Not vicious like Linus. How did you survive?"

"Because I was afraid to do anything except live."

I rate this book 5 stars because I just really enjoyed it. It is about change and what lengths someone would go to to make it happen. It is about love, and how it can overcome grief. But most importantly, it is just a story about a girl who's world and everything she has believed in gets turned upside down. Enemies become friends, and friends become enemies. Those believed in turn out to be liars and those thought to be liars and evil, turn out to be good.

The character development was also interesting. I liked that even minor characters were able to change and learn.

I have two issues with the book. One, it was frustrating to follow the prophecy that had to do with Elizabeth, and I don't really think it is over, I might have to check it again. And Two, for all the talk about Malcolm, The King, he never once gets an appearance. I would like that to change.

3.5 stars. Elisabeth really annoyed me at the beginning but she kinda grew on me.

kleine fehler - vllt auch durch die übersetzung. aber immer noch 4.5 Sterne
