Sweet quick read

If you read lots of security series books this is not going to break new ground for you. But if you want a relaxing, sweet, predictable romance with some fun action sequences mixed in you will likely find it enjoyable.

Yes yes yes!

I’ll be honest—it took me more than halfway through to feel any attachments to Colton or Ace, but the story had piqued my interest and I wanted to see how it played out. Good decision! Once I got a feel for these two, I was hooked. But I absolutely can’t wait to dive into Red and Laz’s story next!

Great Story

This was my introduction to Cochet’s work. Colton and Ace were great together. I can’t wait to read Red’s story next.

I'M SO HAPPY!

I don't think there is anything about this book I didn't absolutely love and adore. Ace and Colton had amazing chemistry right away - similar to Dex and Sloane's for me, that kind of connection is how well Cochet wrote these two (I love Dex and Sloane to bits, so it says a lot for me how much I loved these two) - and Cochet's wonderful humor was present right away and there throughout, and I love how much this made me laugh as well as how these two made me melt with their sweetness (and also fan myself from their hotness together ;)).

And some might think Ace and Colton moved a little fast, but I didn't care because we got the scenes and the feelings between these to make it 100% believable for me when they fell in love and knew it after only a few weeks - maybe less than that? I'm not sure. But a short amount of time, nonetheless.

But these two were just so into each other from the moment they met, and they were smitten like crazy too.

Colton tries to resist it because things in his past has made him untrustworthy of those who seem to be taking any control away from him.

But Colton's resistance is part of the fun, and the hilarity that ensued as Ace tried to guard Colton and Colton made it as difficult as possible was the best.

But of course Cochet also included the sweet moment, the moments where they two were serious and talked to each other and opened up, and allowed for each other to fall deeper in love.

I was just enraptured from the very first page, and I'm already excited about Red and Laz's story (they were adorable!) and hopefully *crosse fingers* Frank and Joshua's too. I also can't wait for Lucky's story, because he's apparently a big player, loving to have sex with a lot of people - men and women - a lot of the time, but I want to see who it is that can capture his heart, and then King too. King is the leader of their four-man led group of Four King's Security, and he's the glue, the leader, so I can't for his as well.

Ahhh, I'm just loving all these characters, I loved Ace and Colton's love story, and I'm so excited for everyone else's story too - and with Cochet writing them, I don't doubt they'll be as amazing as this was!

I was actually surprised by who was behind the threats against Colton that led to Four Kings having to be hired by Colton's father to protect him, and I felt Cochet did a good job of leading you to believe one thing so you were shocked when another thing was revealed. A few things happened that I did NOT see coming at all!

I thought I had it all figured out, then just when you think you do, you don't. (Although looking back now, I totally see. Not on the first read though.)

Two very very enthusiastic thumbs up for this amazing start to what is sure to be an amazing series. It had all the things I loved about a Cochet novel - humor, wonderful romance, and great suspense. DEFINITELY recommend! I just feel so giddy after reading this because it was just so damn good!

Merged review:

Very quick, fun read about a dancer, Kit, and the bartender at Sapphire Sands, Seth, that was featured in the Four Kings Security full length books.

I thought they had great chemistry for such a quick read, and yeah it happened quick, but this is a quick, 60 page read. Not a lot of time for build up and the falling in love portion. But I believed it with these two, and their attraction was palpable.

Definitely recommend for a quick, fun read. (Also a great light read if you've just read a very heavy, emotional book.)

Merged review:

Cute little short focusing on Leo and King having their first Christmas together and Ace being Ace, which I always love to see. Ace is kinda like the Dex of this group ;)

Squeeeeee!!!! A new Charlie Cochet series!!!!!! Okay, I'm done fangirling. Now, I can gush about how incredibly awesome and HOT this book was! You have The Kings, an ex-military security firm who has been hired to protect Colton. From the moment they meet, Ace and Colton have electric chemistry. I also loved the Brotherhood between the Kings, their love for each evident. The mystery was great, I had NO idea who the bad guy was! I am super stoked to read Red's story!!!

The story is meh minus it is utterly predictable; right writing, although it leans a bit too much towards cheesy for my taste.

Until then, the rating would be two stars. And I will continue with the series because I want to know what happens with some other characters.

Pero la ortografía del español es IMPERDONABLE / But the Spanish spelling is UNFORGIVEN. Remember that the author is Latina, so presumably, her Spanish is at a C2 level. It is also presumed that the book underwent proofreading, but it is not very appreciable, there are quite a few typos.

Examples of this atrocious Spanish:

* MadreSita instead of madreCita (literally means little mother, is usually used as an endearment). And more than once is committed, so no typo excuse. My eyes bled every time I saw it.
* Wanting to say Hola (Hello), it omits the "H" and it says Ola (wave)

We'll see if I get through the second installment.

Maybe I should have started my TBR by her with THIRDS?

This was cute. Ace and Colton started out not so fond of each other Colton because he didn't want a bodyguard babysitting his every move and Ace because Colton made his life difficult and pushed against him at every turn. They spent the first half of the book drowning in UST baiting each other and the second half boinking every possible moment. It was, I admit, a bit like a 180 but I still enjoyed it. The major plot point of someone threatening Colton and the reason for his father hiring the Four Kings security company didn't really come to fruition into the very very end. The bulk of the story focused on Ace, Colton, and the multitide of side characters. There are many. In the end I did enjoy the book, but Ace and Colton are no Sloane and Dev. To be honest, I don't think anyone can top them as one of my favorite couples. 3.5 stars

Bodyguard protects unwilling CEO from threats, in a nutshell. A rough start, with all the 30++ men acting like horny, childish frat boys. Ace is laidback, wild but with an intense side. Colton came off as bratty at start, but is actually kind and a good guy. There's more maturity as we go along, and their romance is quite intense but also sweet, though I would've preferred less lust in the initial stages.

They have a real friendship, the chemistry's good, and their banter is fun. Also when things heat up, they *really* heat up (sex fest ahoy). Suspense wise, it felt a bit unevenly developed, and it seemed rushed towards the end. But the epilogue is pretty sweet. My issues aside, it was a rather good read overall. The next couple seems cute!
