This was really cute. Not sure how I hadn’t heard of this author until now as she writes the types of books I love- emotional, amusing, hot, not too over the top with the drama. Reminded me a lot of Sarah Mayberry’s writing. I really enjoyed and will definitely keep reading.
emotional
lighthearted
fast-paced
Smart funny and wildly appealing fake relationship
Sheppard and Everly will give you all the swoony swoons while also pulling at your heartstrings. It’s a sunshine-grumpy, boss-employee, fake relationship story that’s filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love. The story included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. Everly is the executive assistant for her seemingly cold and distant boss, Sheppard. When Sheppard is faced with his father dating his gold digging harpy of an ex at a gala honoring his father, he does what an normal person would do, calls his assistant tells her to dress sexy and gets her to pretend she’s his GF for the night. Unfortunately, for reasons, the charade has to continue and get more complicated so Everly moves in with Sheppard. The line between real and fake blurs day by day on the journey to their HEA and what a fun and emotional journey it is. The author does a phenomenal job developing interesting supporting characters that you want to hear more about (good thing there’s more books in the series). The book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, strong family bonds, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, painful pasts, and so much love.

4.5 stars for Faking Ms. Right by Claire Kingsley. This is book 1 in the Dirty Martini Running Club. I have read a few books from Claire Kingsley and this book is one of my favorites. I am a big fan of romantic comedies and this one hit just the right spot. It had some serious moments and had some moments that had me laughing my ass off. I loved every second of it. Everly had been Shepherds assistant for three years and she has never thought about him in any other way than as her boss. HE never showed any emotion or anything to anyone in the office. Shepherd has never really thought about Everly as more than his assistant. That all changes when he needs a woman to pretend to be his fake girlfriend. In comes Everly and damn does he notice her now. He needs Everly to pretend to be his live-in girlfriend to keep away his ex-girlfriend. What happens when feeling start to change. This book was great , I can not say enough how much you should read this book. I loved every second of it.
What an awesome story!
I loved the introduction to Everly, Nora and Hazel in 'Everly Dalton's Dating Disasters' and this novel did not disappoint! Everly's such a sweetie, optimistic and willing to go above and beyond to assist her boss, Shepherd.
I enjoyed the storyline, the weird and wonderful situations Everly found herself in, but especially the way her relationship with her boss changed... for the better (most of the time).
And Shepherd. I love me a grisly, growly, grumpy main man.

3.5/4 ⭐️
Me gustó.

Fake dating to real love is a trope for a reason, because when it is well written, it doesn’t matter how predictable it is, it’s still swoon-worthy! This was a sweet and fun read.
Where to start with this book? It's breezy enough for the most part, though it could be interchanged with tons of other fake dating stories involving a cold hearted billionaire boss and his kind hearted assistant. The characters were fine, if not captivating. The biggest problem with this story is that the central premise of it is mind blowingly ridiculous.
Say you're a lesbian couple looking to start a family. Do you ask a dear friend to donate his sperm? Do you go to a sperm bank and choose a donor who matches the physicality of the non egg providing partner? Or do you demand that your sister ask her boss, a wealthy and powerful man she has no personal relationship with and seems to tolerate/fear more than like, to donate his sperm because you've seen pictures of him somewhere and think he's a fine physical speciman? If you would choose option three, perhaps this book is for you.
If that option seems completely bonkers, I would suggest moving right along.
