Cute, funny, and steamy.
emotional slow-paced

This was a cute little pallet cleanser book only took a day to read. It’s not very long if you’re looking for something just to occupy you for a bit this is great. The plot was what you expected. There were no real twists. I pretty much pegged the entire storyline From the first chapter.

100% guilty pleasure.
All the tropes... billionaire grumpy boss, fake dating the sunshiny sweet-but-sassy personal assistant. What's not to love?

Everly is a great heroine. She's so effervescent and optimistic, she may as well have small cartoon animals serenading her as she works. She's the only one who seems to be able to soothe the savage beast (as it were) Shepherd our 'cold-as-ice' billionaire CEO extraordinaire. What he actually does wasn't important enough for me to remember exactly, just that he's a workaholic who everyone is terrified of.

Romance reasons require the two MC's to enter a fake dating / fake engagement situation which of course become a classic proximity romance. A fun read which satisfied all the promises of the premise.

A fun fake dating romance with a frustrating third-act breakup.

I love a good fake dating trope, and this book definitely delivered on that! It had the fun, the chemistry, and all the things I look for in a rom-com. That said, the third-act breakup felt totally unnecessary. Everly explained the contract situation pretty clearly, and it was frustrating that Shepard just didn’t listen. I think the story would’ve had a lot more emotional depth if they’d actually talked it through instead of going the predictable drama route.
Also, the part where her sister asks her for her boss to be a sperm donor? Kind of outrageous and took me out of the story a bit.
Still, there’s a solid HEA and everything wraps up nicely. Not perfect, but enjoyable overall!

Very cute. Super cheesy of course but that's part of the point. Sometimes you need a cheesy rom-com in your life and this was a fun one. Grumpy/sunshine, fake-dating tropes are usually a good time. This made me laugh and I really liked Everly's friends so I might read their stories too.
