3-3.5 I might be a bit generous as the last book I read was hot garbage and this was better despite the weirdness.

Would I read again? Maybe

Eliminate the weird parts, and it was pretty predictable.

I just downloaded the 2nd book only to discover I've already read it because it's been renamed.

Wow! This book blew me away. It was fun, angsty, unexpected and entertaining. The characters were spot on and I think I have a crush on Mr. Calloway, or shall I say, dark, moody, grumpy, emotionless, hot guy.

Everly is the sweetest character and she must be a saint to deal with Sheppard Calloway. He practically ignores her for three years, with grunts and nods. Working for someone like that is no easy thing. But she handles him like a champ.

This book was very entertaining and I loved the desperate need that came from Shep in regards to Everly. His desire for her burns hot and hits him in all the right ways, in a way changing his whole personality. Who knew scrooge could care.

This steamy read is sure to hook you from the very first page. I know I was hooked. I cannot wait to read more.

Didn't want it to end!!

I am a huge fan of romcom books, especially when they're not overly silly and ridiculous. CK did an amazing job of adding comedy in every chapter that felt authentic and made me want to be friends with all the characters. I found myself smiling down at my kindle or laughing to myself while everyone looked at me like I was a total weirdo. This book also had some good drama and I love fake relationship stories (they're so much fun). As I got closer to the end, I didn't want to finish the book, but I was so glad I did because those ending scenes were the best. I hope more of the characters will get their own stories!!

Comencé a leer esto sin expectativas porque creí que me encontraba con otra de esas historias simples y clichés. Y no me equivoqué, lol. Pero me gustó, me sacó de un bloqueo lector y me divirtió, fue una lectura bastante agradable.

Downgraded from 4 stars to 1 star. I don't support people that glorify the IOF. See this review.

Everly Dalton has worked as Shepherd Calloway's assistant for 3 years. With her strong work ethic and sunshine disposition, Everly is Shepherd's best and longest-running assistant. But when an ex girlfriend of his creates trouble, Shepherd asks Everly to be his fake girlfriend.

This fake relationship quickly forces Shepherd and Everly to move in together...and to share a bed at night 😏 What I love the most about this book is that there is no insta-love. These two have been working together for 3 years. They've only known each other in the professional sense. But when circumstances lead to a fake relationship, the lines begin to blur.

I love that the build up AND the pay off are both 🔥🔥🔥 The steam level actually took me by surprise 🥵 And it had an even stronger impact because of the fantastic build up of chemistry and tension. I also love Shepherd's evolution from emotionally constipated to small grins to full smiles with dimples 😍

The motivations behind the fake relationship should be taken with a grain of salt. The need for a fake relationship could have easily been resolved with one or two conversations. But you have to suspend disbelief and just go along with the fake relationship.

Shepherd's ex girlfriend is also a cardboard cutout villain. She's only there as a tool to propel the drama and the fake relationship between Everly and Shepherd. So don't expect any depth for the ex girlfriend.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, especially on audio. I had a blast listening to it. The fake relationship was SO MUCH FUN! Can't wait to read the next book!
