Brody & Jessa have loved each other for years. Jessa is a famous model now, and band member Jesse's younger sister, and they had a bit of a wild child upbringing. But Jessa was 5 years younger and they tried to protect her from the partying. So she quietly rebelled in her own way, keeping secrets of her own. Until she couldn't be around them anymore because she was carrying those secrets and guilt. So she left, thinking she could fix and find herself if she wasn't faced with all she felt she'd done wrong.
For Brody, there was never anyone for him except Jessa. He dated while she was away, but no one ever meant enough to him to enable him to forget her. Now she's back - and she knows she has to tell Brody all the secrets she was holding back if she wants to be able to move forward with him.
It takes her a long time (in the book) to get around to telling all those truths she'd been hiding. It's life changing and impacts a lot more people than just her and Brody.

2.8⭐️….. like i read it really fast….doesnt mean i thought it was good…. im kind of just on a roll with this series and im like INTRIGUED, i LIKE the characters (kind of?) but this one was just like not v developed as not as hot. i love the whole long love vibe but it just wasn’t doing much for me. the failure of communication here while although i kind of understand it made it frustrating to read. idk lol this one was blah. ALSO I NEED TO STOP READING BOOKS LIKE THESE BC THE COVERS ARE SO EMBARRASSING LIKE WHY
This book felt very long...
And there were some parts that felt off and wrong. I wish we had more genuine moments between this couple because that felt lacking. And I'm really not sure I feel like reading about Seth. He kinda sucks.

Really couldn’t put this one down. Wanted to shake the leads a lot through the whole book, but liked the ending and that they aren’t perfect. Also, I think I love the playlists more than the book. I kept pausing to listen to the music that was referenced the whole time. Ready to read the rest of the series.
This was a re-read because I was in the mood for a kind of rock star romance that I’d already read. It’s been a while since I read this one and I think I now realised why. This is a very, very frustrating book to read.
The heroine literally says in the first chapter of the book that she needs to talk to the hero and explain herself (this is a second chance romance story) - but she doesn’t actually end up having this crucial talk with him until CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT! In the meantime, the plot/narrative is very circular with one step forward and three steps back kinda of goings on, which is fine at first but then just gets annoying because it doesn’t allow for any genuine intimacy or relationship development to grow on the page. All their reasons for loving each other occurred in the past when they were younger, so we don’t really get to be privy to why they work as a couple.
It’s not a bad book at all, I just feel like it kind a buried the lead by teasing this big reveal of what the main conflict is, but then resolves it super quickly. I would have preferred to see more of what the MCs are like when they’re actually together, without all of the uncertainty, at least for a while before things got messy again.

FMC was the worst. Selfish and nasty. Also her saying Seth raped her or had any part in her doing drugs. She manipulated him and his feeling for her to get drugs and didn’t own up to it. Disgusting behavior.
I liked this book, even though I often wanted to slap Brody to get him to pay closer attention to what was going on with his girl - did he not see that she was exhibiting trauma responses in certain situations?? He was a jerk but I can sort of understand why he assumed the worst sometimes. Still, he was a bit unfair to Jessa.
The worst bit of the book for me was the end when we get the Seth epilogue, and it becomes apparent that he's going to get his own book. WTF?? I don't care what everyone decides in the end - Seth is an abuser (and wasn't at all redeemed when he didn't come clean with the band when given the chance), and I don't particularly want to read his story.
