The second book to A Child Called It tells the story of David Pelzer and him trying to deal with grief of never having his biological family and how he found love from a foster family who he now considers mom and dad.

What a heartbreaking sequel! I enjoyed this book more than the first, A Child Called It. I think it’s because I knew several boys when I was young that were so similar to David. They had so much potential but their home lives were so awful that they were branded “bad kids”. My husband was one who ultimately survived & thrived, although it took him longer than it did David. I still wonder if the other boys (and some girls) I knew survived to be healthy adults. I have nothing but praise for foster parents and wish my husband & I were in a position to become ones ourselves. I’m so glad he wrote this sequel so I could see how the rest of his life turned out.

This book made me cry so hard. It really shines a light on the foster system and the way it operates. And how prejudiced people can be towards foster kids. I also hated that he got framed for arsen and nobody questioned it - just accepted that he did it. Man this was such a hard read.
