Clearly this book was written BC, because I don't know if anyone finds public transport or air travel cozy any more.  She even says checking in the "opinions of the unwashed masses" on Twitter is cozy, which is delusional, even before the current times.

The point is that everyone finds different things cozy, but I hoped this would be more instructional and less what feels like a collection of writing prompts on semi-random subjects. With a list of vocabulary related to beds in Tudor England and a list of things that are cozy about the Tower of London, for some reason.

This book took me a while to get into. I went to the signing & launch for it, and I was curious but found that it wasn't the right book for that time so I put it aside for a while and passed on the copy to a friend. I'd actually forgotten that I joined the library queue for the Kindle edition and when it landed on my Kindle earlier this week I gave it another go. Surprisingly, I got right into it and finished it quickly. While I still don't find things like the 1 train cozy, I understood Gillies' point that it's how you look at things -- and that cozy is a concept rather than a definite. I also loved her "seven minute Louvre" as sometimes I want to see every nook and cranny of a museum and others (looking at you, Rijksmuseum & Night Watch), I just have a quick hit list. I also enjoyed her seeking out hygge in Denmark and other elements of travel coziness.

An interesting book, and I'm glad I read it.

This book was charming, it felt like I was sitting, listening to the author discuss with me personally what made her feel cozy and the book made me think what makes me feel good and feel comfort and cozy and why is that even important? I really enjoyed the book.

I needed this book. Cozy is how you consciously interact with the world. It can be something you can control.

One of my goals for 2024 is to continue slowing down, getting to know and honor myself, and savoring moments and my life, in general, more. Toward that aim, this was a cozy ;) little book to tuck into at the end of the year. I found it akin to "The Book of Hygge" and "Wintering". There's nothing groundbreaking within its pages but there are some great reminders.

This book slowly and steadily won me over with many small anecdotes and moments that made me smile or laugh or wish that loved ones were at the other end of the couch so that I could share this or that. I'm unlikely to buy it, but think owning it would be its own kind of cozy.
