It's weird to jump right into the middle of a series, but the book is easy to understand by itself / even if you didn't read any other books on the series. The story is interesting - paranormal activity, talking to the dead, and such. I just didn't like much the writing style, and found myself sometimes with my mind wandering away from the read. I guess I couldn't relate to the main character (Keri) that well.

A great read for people who like romance, ghosts and murder. An especially good book for people who want to read a bunch of books by the same author. Light and enjoyable.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

I enjoyed the story, but I have to say that I wasn't blown away. I felt the timeline was rushed, and the characters weren't fully realized. I felt the overall book could have been deeper and richer than it was.

The book is apparently one in a series, but stands alone fairly well. A paranormal group called the Truth Seekers contact a famous actor, Carl, and a historical true crime writer, Keri to investigate an inn with a deadly history in Pennsylvania. When the case turns deadly, and an FBI agent out of New York is found brutally murdered in the inn's basement, the Krewe is called in.

I felt the relationship between Keri and Joe developed far too quickly. In a matter of just a couple of days they go from absolute strangers to involved. I found Carl to be far too young and childish, always scuttling around behind the investigator's coattails. The Truth Seekers also were basically just names until their storyline was needed again in link to the murder.

While I liked the information about the Pennsylvanian hex culture and Amish, the fact of it was there just wasn't enough substance to the book to make it great. It's an easy beach read, but not something I'd seek out for a good thrill.

The Seekers is the 28th book in the Krewe of Hunters series, but it's the first one I've read.
Picking up this book, I had some doubt that I would be able to get into it, considering I hadn't read any of the others. However, I found it surprisingly easy cause it reads like a standalone.
The entire text is flooded with suspense and I really enjoyed it. I liked the story it had to offer as well as how the characters were developed. I loved how it was written and paced, it kept my attention throughout.
It's overall a solid read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

While I did not realize this was number 28 (!) in a series when I requested it, The Seekers held up as a stand-alone novel. This story had so many things that I love: true crime writers, history, cults, and a mystery to tie it all together. You will need to enjoy paranormal stories to enjoy this as it is a focus, but despite not normally being drawn to that type of story, I really enjoyed this.

It's hard to believe this series is on number 28, and I'm just now finding it. I used to read Heather Graham a lot and got away from the genre for a while, so when I saw this one, I thought I'd check it out. Thankfully, this one seems to stand on its own, at least I didn't feel like I was missing anything as the characters interacted. The story is a little bit crime thriller, a little bit paranormal mystery, and even a little bit romance. It does have a rather slow start, and there are several characters to get to know. We do get a kind of cast of characters summary at the beginning, and that helps but can be a pain to go back and forth to if there are questions. I really enjoyed getting the backstory about the Inn, and the author does a wonderful job of inserting it into the story organically as things progress. I also liked the ghost element, but would've liked to have seen more of that. In the end, I liked the story. I didn't love it, but for me, it fell firmly into the fair to midland range.
