3.5 stars - rounded up to 4 because while this was SUPER YA & not my typical type of thriller read, I still couldn't put it down, haha!

I feel like had I read this as a teenager, I would have ate this up. At some points it was super cheesy & their reactions to certain situations were unrealistic but the vibes were so good for halloween/spooky season. I saw someone say it was giving 'Scream' vibes & I definitely agree.

Pretty much the entire time I had no idea who I suspected. I was so confused - but so many times I will guess the twist so it was a nice change to not know what was going on. But that ending?? I can't deal - where's the epilogue? Like, I need context - what just happened? & I have heard all of her books end like this?

Anyways, if you're looking for just a fun, YA thriller read for the season that you can get through quick? I would still recommend this. I had a good time reading it.

October = My lil thriller month. This is #4.

I read this pretty fast—not because it was great, but because it was an easy read. I’m not *thrilled* about this one. The premise was interesting. The plot twist didn’t surprise me. The ending left me wondering too much… like what next? But not in a good way.

I think overall it was good. I feel like it gives Scream vibes but modern. Overall I liked it and would recommend it to friends who like thriller/suspense books.

Though I figured out pretty quickly who it was, still was very enjoyable read. The only thing I’m upset about is the ending…how are you going to end it like that??!?

1.5⭐️
I don’t think that this was awful in the sense that it deserves zero stars, but I don’t think that this was a literary masterpiece as far as YA goes.
About two years ago before I started my heavy, heavy reading journey and really got into a lot of five star reads, I had read another book by her. I think it was called “The Cellar”. I did enjoy that and thought that book was better than this one and I also didn’t think that, that book was a literary masterpiece but entertaining enough. I didn’t have a lot of high hopes for this book so the fact that I’m still giving it 1.5 stars is pretty generous.
This book is basically scream but literally just watch the movies. You will enjoy that more I promise

If you're in the mood for a YA slasher novel set during Halloween then this may be a great book for you. It's not spectacular but I found it to be one of those mindless reads that you can just enjoy without all the flair. My major complaint was guessing the twist very early on in the book.

Another great thriller by Natasha Preston. I have to say, I have always loved an ending that wraps up nicely. But, each of her novel endings has been intriguing and makes me want more. I saw one of the ending twists early on with "who did it." The other one, I had NO IDEA! Well done.
