Another great thriller by Natasha Preston. I have to say, I have always loved an ending that wraps up nicely. But, each of her novel endings has been intriguing and makes me want more. I saw one of the ending twists early on with "who did it." The other one, I had NO IDEA! Well done.

The Haunting by Natasha Preston was a frustrating read from start to finish. The main character was, frankly, idiotic, making decisions that defied all logic and common sense. It was hard to root for someone who continuously ignored clear warnings, walked headfirst into danger, and acted without any thought to the consequences. Her lack of awareness made it difficult to connect with her or feel any real suspense.
The plot itself started with potential but quickly unraveled due to poor pacing and predictability. The eerie atmosphere that could have driven the tension never really materialized, and instead, the story relied on the protagonist’s questionable choices to create conflict.
As for the ending, it was just as disappointing as the protagonist. It felt rushed and unsatisfying, leaving loose ends and failing to provide any real payoff for the buildup. The final twist, rather than being shocking, came off as ridiculous and unearned. It left me more annoyed than surprised, wrapping up the story in a way that felt lazy and disconnected from the rest of the book.
Overall, The Haunting fell flat due to an idiotic main character and a lackluster ending. It’s hard to get invested in a story when neither the protagonist nor the conclusion make much sense. This one just didn’t work for me.

It was a quick read that drew me in but the ending was awful. It just ended without any resolution. The plot was fairly predictable.

Honestly, I am so surprised with the ending. I had suspensions of a few people, I got one right. SPOILER, the team pissed me off.

I reserve 1 stars for the shittiest of books and this one is currently the shittiest book I’ve read for 2025.
This book was WAY longer than it needed to be. Absolutely useless dialogue and details. Way too much fluff. And the cliffhanger ending really sealed the deal.
I wanted to DNF by chapter 5, pushed through, and regret it. The only Haunting happening here was how hauntingly terrible this was.
