Quick, funny, easy read.

Full of lols and surprising amounts of candor and honesty. The book ends with his first break into Broadway as a chorus member and my only complaint was that I wanted more more more. I hoped to hear about Book of Mormon and Girls but it stops before that because the arc is about his early NYC years and pursuing Broadway dreams.

Phenomenal!
This is a laugh out loud whilst ugly crying book that is so masterfully written it's hard to put down.

A very sweet, very fast read. Read it all in a few hours. If you love Andrew, his work, or the performing arts in general, you’ll enjoy this book.

After seeing Andrew speak at a book signing to promote this book, I was excited to read his book. In person, Andrew is funny, outgoing, likeable and still down to earth enough where you wouldn’t be afraid to stand in line to meet him and ask him to autograph said book. (We didn’t. The line was way too long.) But his demeanor and the stories he shared made me want to read more about his life.

I really liked that the entire story unfolded and wrapped up before his “big break”. (If you’re hoping to hear stories about “The Book of Mormon” or “Girls”, this isn’t the story for you. Andrew says that he had many some wins and losses before his “big break”, but none of that gets captured on his resume, even though life started before his first listed credits. This book tells those stories.

Andrea comes from Omaha, Nebraska, the same place I grew up in. He mentions restaurant, streets and parts of town that I am familiar with, so that was fun. He’s honest and non flinching when it comes to life events and he approaches sad events with positive humor, and some wisdom seeped in. None of the stories are life changing, but ... isn’t that what most life is like? They shaped his life and for that, they’re important to him.

He always writes with humor and wit- you’ll fly through this book.

Audiobook - Andrew Rannells feels like a friend of mine. I had heard the essay about his father’s death from Modern Love, and it was just as impactful the second time around. Can’t wait for his third book someday!

This book was funny and honest and didn't disappoint. I appreciate Rannell's tone and comedic timing, he's a great story teller and I could listen to him speak, or more importantly sing for hours. I listened to the audiobook which was even more of a treat! Being a Nebraskan too, I enjoyed hearing all references to Omaha locations as well as sharing that Midwestern politeness that we have. The Austin IHOP/movie theater story was spot on.

His success in "The Book of Mormon" didn't make it into this book but I hope to read more about his adventures on Broadway and beyond in his upcoming interviews and writings.

Loved the memoir. Loved hearing his journey from the Midwest to Broadway and all his ups and downs. Listened after seeing him in Gutenberg the musical on Broadway in nov 2023.

laughed, cried, laughed again and cried again.

If you know anything about me you know I ADORE this man. I thinks he's truly amazing and he's everything who I want and hope to be. I loved this book and I'll recommend it to anyone who asks.
