This month I wanted to get through books on my TBR list that were under 300 pages and caught my interest with the summaries. This one was about 217 pages and was written as a tag team with Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby. Sarina Bowen, I've read other books from her so I know her writing is solid and entertaining.

This book contained some of my favorite tropes:

❤️Reverse Age Gap (He is 29 and she is 35)
❤️Romantic Comedy
❤️Second Chance Romance ( She was his babysitter when she was 20 and he was 14, he had a major crush on her but nothing inappropriate occurred between them)
❤️Cheating Ex gets karma
❤️Fluffy Romantic Scenes (Liam is a golden retriever boyfriend plus a great surrogate father to Sadie's twin girls)

Sadie moves back to her hometown after a messy divorce (A-hole husband cheated with the nanny and disparaged Sadie's looks, crushing her self esteem). She enrolls her twin toddlers into a daycare center where Liam works. Sadie nannied for Liam's family when he was 14 and he had a huge crush on him. Although 29, Sadie still thinks of Liam like still a boy rather then a handsome, muscular man that is not so shyly flirting with her every chance he gets.

Sadie is still insecure about her body after her ex husband disparaged her looks and told her that if she hadn't let herself go after giving birth to the twins he wouldn't have cheated. Hes a barely there father and is constantly standing her up at the visits with his kids.

Liam on the other hand is a natural caregiver but with him announcing that hes going overseas for his graduate degree, Sadie sees an expiration date for any potential relationship and is hesitant to drag her kids into a short term relationship.

Will Liam and Sadie be able to overcome any barriers in their budding relationship? Will they get their HEA? I recommend reading to find out.

I really wished that the A-hole ex begged for forgiveness at the end, he did see some karma which was well deserved though. I guess it was clear he was a narcissist but still I hoped for an apology, like the ex in 'If We Never Met ' by Mhairi McFarlane.

3.75 stars. This was a pretty good book. Boy Toy is Sadie and Liam's book. Sadie is the third friend to find love in this series. She is a recently divorced mom to two year old twins. Her breakup was a hard one, leaving her with poor self-esteem after he ex cheated on her with their much younger nanny. Sadie meets Liam when he is her daughters' preschool teacher. She is shocked to realize that this very nice, handsome guy is someone she used to babysit. When Sadie was twenty, she babysat fourteen year old Liam and his younger siblings. Now that they have met as adults, they both are attracted to each other. Liam has always had feelings for Sadie and is interested in pursuing a relationship with her. But Sadie is reluctant because of their age difference and history. Still, as they become friends and spend more time together, Liam sneaks under her defenses and they fall for each other.

Overall, this was a pretty cute book. I liked Boy Toy. It was a light, funny, easy read. The story was fun and interesting. There are some funny moments, some sexy ones and some emotional ones. I appreciated the awkwardness Sadie felt dating someone she once babysat. Still, Liam was obviously mature and as they were both adults, I found her reluctance went on a little too long. I was annoyed by Sadie at times because of her treatment of Liam. Still, I did like them together. And I loved Liam. He was a doll. He adored Sadie and was so cute with her kids. He had been crushing on Sadie ever since he was fourteen and didn't hesitate to pursue her when he got the chance as an adult. I didn't really feel the age or maturity difference between them. I also felt like the kids were written well and true to their age, which I always look for in books with kids.

One thing I should mention... I didn't love something that was revealed in the epilogue.
Spoiler There is a 9 month separation between the last page and the epilogue as Liam worked abroad. He had a chance to change his work plans, so that he didn't have to leave Sadie, but he didn't. That disappointed me a bit and dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3.75 stars. I felt like it stopped the momentum and seriousness of the couple's relationship. The epilogue picks up on the day he returns. They do seem happy, but separations near the end of a book are a pet peeve of mine.

Overall, this is a fun, cute read. I enjoyed this installment of the series and I hope there is more to come from Ms. Eby and Ms. Bowen!

Sadie is so sweet, I was so excited to see more of her story and Liam is such a complimentary HEA for her. Love them both!

I think that this was the best book of the series. While it can also be read as a standalone, you should also read and enjoy the previous books.

Liam's and Sadie's story was cute and sexy but filled with the sweet moments of the little ones and every exchange between the characters was also a fun moment which I enjoyed!!

If you want a quick, sexy read these books are for you!

I was so excited to read Sadie's story because she deserves a HEA with the right man. Liam is more than perfect for her. He was such a dreamboat. I mean, I don't even like kids and Liam almost made me start liking them LOL.

While Man Hands remains the funniest book in this series, Boy Toy still had its many laugh out loud moments. I especially enjoyed being inside Liam's head. He was just a fascinating hero. One thing that I love about this series is how distinct the heroes and heroines are and how everyone is matched together perfectly.

Sadie and Liam share some similarities in regards to academia and child rearing, but they have different personalities. Liam was such an awesome hero. He's smart, sexy, great with kids, and he's a great cook. He's literally what dreams are made of. He's what you would call 'husband material' which I know probably comes as a surprise since the title of the book is Boy Toy. But Liam is so much more than a boy toy! And Sadie is so deserving of a man like him after her experience with her shitty ex husband. He helped her rebuild her self esteem and she found happiness with him and started enjoying life a lot more.

I don't usually read a lot of romances where there's a significant age difference between the hero and heroine. Liam is 6 years younger than Sadie and to be honest, it worked out really well in this story. Like I mentioned above, Liam helped Sadie loosen up and enjoy life. But he was also mature and steady. The fact that Liam and Sadie knew each other when they were younger added more depth to the story. Their connection felt organic and it didn't take long for their romance to be kindled.

The supporting characters were great as usual! Love Ash, Brynn, Tom, and Braht! I wasn't a big fan of Sadie's sister and could have lived without her making an appearance. I feel that the story would have had more substance if Liam had spent more significant time with his parents. The last chapter kind of just wraps it up with a neat bow. I also wonder about Sadie's parents who were only briefly mentioned. Still an enjoyable read and a great conclusion to the series!

Favourite quote:

"Liam doesn't need to flatter me. I don't need him to tell me I'm still pretty, or that he likes my dress. the truth is that you just can't fake this level of enthusiasm. Liam doesn't have to use words to tell me I'm sexy. I can hear it in each desperate sound he makes, and from the rough way he's taking me against the door."

Another fun book by these two authors. Their books are always a good laugh. This one is an older woman/younger man but there is not a huge age gap.
