No one does Supernatural Mystery like Simone St James...

In the midst of July 1995, April and Eddie Carter, freshly married, embarked on their honeymoon journey. However, a wrong turn steered them onto a desolate, dimly lit road late at night. Suddenly, illuminated by their headlights, they spotted a distressed woman ahead, signaling trouble.

Eddie brought the car to a halt, and as the woman entered, they were shocked to see her drenched in blood. Little did they know, this chilling encounter marked the prelude to a harrowing tale, one that would challenge their beliefs to the core.

This story sends shivers down your spine, evoking the eerie atmosphere of a campfire story on a moonless night, far from civilization, with the wind whispering ominously through the trees. If you relish a blend of the supernatural and murder mystery, this is sure to captivate you. Brace yourself for a journey fraught with terror as April and Eddie navigate through the depths of horror - should you dare to accompany them!
Kept my interest from beginning to end.

My only complaint is that there are quite a few places where the author repeated herself, sometimes right after saying the sentence—you read it again a few sentences later, maybe a little differently. It definitely takes you out of the story.

I've enjoyed many books recently but this was the first in awhile that I read in one day. I felt invested in the story from the beginning and even when my enjoyment began to wane, I still wanted to know what happened. The character development of April and Eddie felt awkward as the book went on and I didn't feel as invested in their past stories as I had been, only in the answer to what happened. Even that felt a little anti-climatic by the end and I was kind of disappointed with how it all "wrapped up".

Supernatural slasher is a tricky thing to pull off, especially in books, but Simone St. James does it well here. She blends the horror/thriller aspect well with Eddie and April's own secrets and backgrounds--mysteries all around! It could easily have felt disjointed and disconnected, but here, it worked.
The reveal stretched credulity a little and I didn't really see the need for the father to show up, but it's okay.
