This was such a sweet book, I love how the author took a real event and extrapolated into a heartwarming historical fiction that touched on lovely points about what makes life meaningful as you grow up. Points of humor, desperation, danger, and compassion. Good read <3

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 stars

This was our library book club pick for January. Everyone loved it and there was so much to discuss, so I definitely recommend for book clubs.

The whole time I was reading this I was thinking about Water for Elephants, so if you read and liked that book, you should read this one. There are moments of animal abuse, so if you are extra sensitive to that, you may want to steer clear.

This is a book for readers of many genres. Whether you prefer literary, romance, adventure, suspense, nonfiction, coming-of-age, or historical fiction; this book has something for just about everyone.

West with Giraffes is a story of companionship and compassion, and is equal parts heartwarming and heart wrenching.

This book will definitely be making my top reads list for 2025.

“Few true friends have I known and two were giraffes…”

"It is a foolish man who thinks stories do not matter—when in the end, they may be all that matter and all the forever we’ll ever know."

Had to read this for book club, and it was … okay. Fannie Flagg did it better with Fried Green Tomatoes. Homer Hickam did it better with Carrying Albert Home. This was … okay.
