I love the premise of this series! Modern-day New York woman writes historical romances based on her own love life. Super fun!
I finished the Wicked Wallflower then jumped right into Jane and Duke's trilogy of novellas, and while I enjoyed the writing more in the historical I really loved the connections between the two (and honestly, I really didn't like Duke much until the third novella). The way the same events were handled in Regency England and modern-day New York was well done, and I look forward to seeing how they unfold in the next two Wallflower books.

Nettes Intermezzo für die Wallflower-Serie, aber einer nicht abgeschlossenen Novella kann ich nicht so viel Begeisterung entgegenbringen wie ihren Romanen.

Oh, this was better than the historical ones. Just because what she writes is so much more modern than the times it's set on. Although the story didn't really end, so I guess I have to go on to the next novella...

What a great idea for a story! The idea sucked me in and Maya delivered with the characters.
Jane is a plain jane, librarian by day and romance author by night, or at least that's what the people she went to high school with think. Her life is plain and boring but she wishes she could change that. Jane doesn't want to be the wallflower any more, she wants to take risks and feel passion in her life.
Duke is the bad boy billionaire, at least that's what he's labeled since his first 2 startup companies tanked. If he can get his act together for this deal he would not only be a billionaire on paper but in the real world as well.
One chance meeting at a party in the library, one drunk status update by Jane's friend, and now they are engaged to be married. Duke the bad boy and Jane the wallflower, can they pass the fauxmance test? Will Jane lose her heart to Duke?

2.5 stars. I thought this was a cute companion to the first book in the series; a contemporary retelling of the historical romance story. However, this novella isn't written/edited as tightly so it's more distracting to read. Also, it's the same couple through the novellas instead of friends like in the historical full-length novels in the series. That's really disappointing.

I'm glad I read this short story for background info and such, but I probably won't continue with the contemporary parts of this series.
