What a book. Wagamese writes beautifully, clearly without any pretension. The subject matter is heartbreaking and dark, but doesn't feel unbearable to read.
Breathtaking. Writing that's smooth like gliding then hits you like an unseen body check. So good!

This book had quite an impact on me; I wasn't prepare for the last 20 pages of it though.
This book is required reading for all settlers.
Wagamese's story put privilege in a gut wrenching perspective. A highly emotional read, with content warnings of: assault, abuse, addictions, suicide.
But such a very important read if we ever wish to reach a post-TRC world.
Reading stories like this fills me with immense gratitude for the victims and survivors that continue to tell their stories, and re-live their trauma and pain, all so we never forget the horrors of what the Canadian Government, and Catholic Church condoned.

Really powerful story. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming at once.
