The premise of "if the girl kisses her true love, he will die" is really trope-y, and the ending is a bit abrupt and leaves way too many loose ends. But I guess the middle was intriguing enough to keep me reading... I wish that there had been some effort to make this a stand-alone book and less foreshadowing (like literal psychic visions foreshadowing) for future books in a series. :/

The plot of this book was all over the place. It felt very intentional the way it was done, but it was still hard to keep track of everything.
I loved the writing in the first half, but at one point it started changing pov without warning, and it just added to the confusion.

I can't believe I didn't pick this book sooner. Honestly, I wasn't sure I'll like it. But god how wrong I've been.
The story was very interesting, very different from what I expected. It's written well and in a way that kept me wanting more and more (I can't wait to get my hands on the second book). Also I like the way it doesn't switch POVs but it changes focus between all the characters and it shows a lot more from everyone's story (unlike some books that keep focus mostly on one of the main characters).
I like the characters and I can't wait to see more of them. And I even like the love story.
I'm curious to see what will happen now with Blue and her raven boys.

Gansey deserves better.

The best tiny detail I got from this re read is that Gansey doodles a “man fighting a cat” on his math homework. Also all of the Adam scenes had me on the verge of tears, also I relate to Blue so much, also just Ronan. Also I love this book so so much.

3.5 stars. I liked it, but........I don't know, I just didn't LOVE it. I am still interested enough to read the next one. I liked that Blue didn't take any crap from the boys. She is a strong female character, so that is a huge plus for me. I can't stand when the lead female character is a whiny, puny, little irritating thing. So ya, I like it but.......it felt blah and left me feeling incomplete. I don't know if that makes sense, but its how I feel. I liked it, but.......

My roommate has been trying to get me to read these books for MONTHS and I just got around to it and BOY AM I GLAD I DID. I felt so connected to the characters from just one book and I love them all so dearly. I audibly giggled multiple times, I was on edge, it’s got tension and suspense and it was so good. I love Noah with my whole entire heart.

It was quite good. I had a hard time staying in focus at first. I was busy while reading this book, so it took me some time to read which is odd for me. I loved the way Maggie Siefater wrote this book also. There were some words I've never seen before which interested me.

3.5 stars — I liked the plot, but I had a really hard time caring about any of the characters. (I only actually like blue and Adam, and I think Gansey should bite it. Buzz buzz.) The worst bit is just that the ending was super unsatisfying. I know it’s different for everyone, but I’m of the belief that even if a book is meant to be part of a series, it should function well as a stand-alone too, and I just don’t think this one does. but I know that’s something that bothers me and not everyone. That said I don’t think I would continue reading this series if it wasn’t for the high recommendation from a friend lmao
