Un Musso diverso da quello che avevo precedentemente conosciuto io, che mi ha impressionata positivamente. In questo thriller (poliziesco forse è meglio?) l'autore gioca con noi, facendoci brancolare nel buio insieme ad Alice, portandoci a diffidare di tutti quelli che la circondano e mischiando le carte in tavola nel momento in cui pensiamo di essere giunti ad una soluzione logica. Mi è piaciuto il modo di giocare con il lettore, lo stile semplice e veloce che non ti permette di abbandonare la lettura, i momenti morti che qui sono inesistenti. Mi è piaciuto anche il finale, con un ritorno alle origini del Musso delicato e romantico che conoscevo io, l'ho trovato in linea con l'autore. L'unica cosa che mi ha fatto storcere il naso è stata la presentazione di personaggi che vengono poi dimenticati, come non fossero mai esistiti: questi dettagli non funzionali potevano benissimo essere evitati. Nel complesso, un buon libro.

Read the book for a book club recommendation and truthfully could’ve just skipped this month and would’ve been just fine. It just wasn’t for me. The plot twist at the end left me feeling just annoyed. I really can’t stand books that follow similar structures to this one. You think you’re following along the whole entire time until the last couple chapters take a weird twist and completely changes the reality of the entire book? It felt like a betrayal. Thus my 2 stars. I’ll give it to Musso for putting me in a position to feel total empathy for Alice at the end. But am I supposed to believe the load of crap at the end? It read like the author got bored of the story and was desperately trying to end it in any way he could think. Unfortunately he landed on probably the worst and (in my opinion) dumbest ending he could think of.

While my opinion on the plot of this novel wasn't all negative, I was entirely unengaged with this book the entire time it took me to read. The character development is nonexistent from start to finish. All of the events that should've made the story intriguing were not only unrealistic it was written in a way that left gaping holes in the plot at the end of the story.
I will say that contrary to some other reviews I've read, I liked the twist at the end of the story. I feel like it gave the impression there was a "plan" for all the nonsense that occurred in the first 75% of the book, even if it was still full of open ends and plot holes.
I liked where the author was going with the book, even if this one wasn't a hit for me.
