After reading this one in English, I think I might take on the challenge of reading another Guillaume Musso book in the original French because it seems basic enough that I'd be able to understand it with my not-quite-fluent French skills. If someone out there could hold me accountable to this in 2023, I'd much appreciate it.

So that's on the writing style - basic but engaging. In terms of the storyline, it was a bit slow getting started but then got interesting and had a few twists. It gave me SHUTTER ISLAND meets THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO but the first draft before the depth was added. I did finish it in two days so it's great for a quick read!

I had such high hopes based on the reviews. But no, this is FAR from the works of Stieg Larson. The main character, Alice, is not likable one bit. She’s a very strong willed character but quite frankly I feel like the author made her into a huge b*^$& which didn’t need to happen for her to be a strong willed character (a la stieg larson) or maybe if the character had been developed first. I almost gave this book up within the first chapter but I kept going in a way so I can write this review having suffered through the entire book. The twist at the end could have been good except then. Boom let’s ruin it with a love declaration.

First part of book what interesting, but the last part was so over the top to be almost a farce.

Overall it was a good book. However it did start at a slow pace (too sow for me at least) but the end makes the whole book worth it.

I read the English version, which I cannot find on here. It was a page turner - suspenseful and full of twists. Definitely a really entertaining read and a great choice to kick of my 2023 reading goal!
