My least favorite one in the series so far. Didn’t hate it, but it felt like a very different Anne. It also wasn’t terribly engaging as it was mostly vignettes, instead of any kind of plot.

Serinin bu kitabını seven kadar eleştiren de olmuş. Ben sevenler grubundayım zira anneliği ve çocuk büyütmeyi eserin yazıldığı dönemin şartlarına göre Anne'in bakış açısından okumak güzeldi.

I loved all of the previous Anne of Green Gables books, but this one about her children just isn't holding my attention. I shall leave it where it is in my heart, and keep Anne the way she's been in the first 5 books.

Reading this series with my preteen has us in varying agreement. I'm relating so much to Anne as an adult, while my daughter enjoyed the earlier books in the series more. In Anne Of Ingleside I found myself reflected in being on the visited end of long staying guests and their unwelcomed behaviors.

EVERYTHING about Anne of Green Gables has been unexpected to me. I thought the series would follow Anne step by step through her life, so these quick years ahead threw me each time. I LOVED it thought? I doubt it at the start of each book but LM Montgomery knows what she's about. I LOVED this - it read more as a series of short stories, but that's okay. Anne's children as as fey and odd and wonderful as they should be. I STILL feel like I don't know Gilbert very well, and I wish I knew him better. I loved this though - Anne getting her comeuppance at matchmaking was PHENOMENAL. I think I get LM Montgomery's stride now, and I can't wait to see where she goes with Rainbow Valley & Rilla.

Re-read 2009, 2016

2016: This is my 5-6 time at least reading this book and the first time I recall admiring how well the focus of the book shifts from Anne to her children. I do feel that Gilbert is a little two dimensional - even Susan is more developed than he is. And poor Shirley is almost entirely forgotten.

2009: This book doesn't really focus on Anne, but is a fun mix of the adventures that happen to her children. I just reread it for the first time in at least 10 years and am noticing a ton of foreshadowing that didn't hit me then.
