I didn’t like this book anywhere near as much as the first one.
And it kind of seems like the author only likes to write about people that knew each other from childhood. Which isn’t bad just makes the story kind of boring.

I’m hesitant to preorder read the next book

I really loved FIGHTING FOR WHAT'S HIS because it features Laura Kaye's classic humor and witty banter between the hero and heroine. Shayna grew up around brothers so she's a bit of a tom boy and she knows how to handle her own with friendly insults. And boy those insults and creative curse words had me laughing out loud! I adored Shayna and wish she was real so we could be friends. She's the perfect match for Billy who can go between charming to brooding depending on the day and Shayna seems to know how to handle both.

Billy does struggle mentally and emotionally throughout the book due to a very serious injury that ended his military career. He still has nightmares, hates fire, and his self-confidence is a bit dented. Warrior Fight Club is Billy's saving grace but as he begins to fall for Shayna, he gets himself pretty mixed up. He wants to be with her but he also doesn't want to disrespect her brother who asked him to look out for her. He's also not the best at expressing his emotions and internalizes everything so makes some incorrect assumptions based on Shayna's behavior. While Billy has to overcome his demons they don't overwhelm the whole story; I was happy that this book wasn't as troubled and heavy as the previous one.

A broken hero opens his home to his best friend's sister. It didn't seem like a big deal when Billy had been asked for this small favor, but when Shayla shows up, after breaking an entering (well, it was raining and her brother did teach her how to pick a lock) and then flashing him (this was after Billy pulled a gun on the intruder he thought he had in his home and Shayla was showering-soooo) the two were off to a great start.

Talk about awkward..."Hi, I'm your new roommate, don't mind my naked introduction. BTW I like your big gun." (I'm just imaging how Laura plots this out, this is not a direct quote from the book.)

I loved the humor, vulnerability, and slow burn that Laura Kaye brings to her wounded characters. Fighting For What's His is an easy read that is an excellent addition to the series.

Billy Parrish is a former Army Ranger Ranger, currently working as a Private Investigator and also a member of the Warrior Fight Club. The only rule to become a member of the club is that you have to be a veteran (No, it's not the old "The only rule of fight club is don't speak of fight club" thing-although there is a cute scene about that so I won't spoil it). WFC is one of the ways that has helped Billy heal and transition back to the civilized world after being in the military. Having a band of brothers who have been through similar things, lived through similar dangers, and possibly been involved in similar physical or emotional damage that he himself has undergone. The club is something that helps ground him, most days. That is until Shayna moves in. He never realized how lonely his life had become after leaving the military. How mundane his life actually was. Shayna was filled with energy and passion about everything, it drew him in like a moth to a flame, but she was his best friends sister. That meant untouchable.

Shayna Curtis needed a place to stay while she got her feet wet in a new town. A new job, starting a new life was exciting enough, but staying under the same roof as her teenage crush added another layer of excitement that had her practically bouncing out of her skin. Billy had matured into a well-built man and she enjoyed looking her fill. She knew he probably saw her as Ryan's gawky little sister and wanted nothing to do with her other than get her out from under his roof as fast as possible, but sometimes the way he stared at her said something different, like maybe he wanted to devour her, in a sexy good way.

Both Billy and Shayna had secrets and carried their own burdens, but had never shared them with anyone. If they could just open up and allow each other to trust the other person perhaps they would each find what they were looking for right under their very own roof.

I always love sprinkled in...there were updates from the WFC's first book, along with progress on storylines with other characters for future storylines...I can hardly wait!!

Holy Mixed Martial Arts!!! I am loving this series. I am learning things about returning Vets of military conflicts that I didn't see before. I am gaining a deep respect for those that help vets to make it through each and every day. Thank you for your service isn't enough. The men and women in uniform deserve so much more. Authors like Laura Kaye are doing amazing things. I devour her books for entertainment pleasure but keep coming back for the Ah Ha moments.

Billy Parish is a member of the WFC. It is one of the few ways he has to deal with his PTSD. He needs the explosive outlet to deal after a forced retirement to deal with survivors guilt. When his surviving ranger team mate Ryan asks him to put a roof over his sister's head there is no way he can say now.

Billy knows he has some issues. Billy knows he won't be easy to live with. What Billy doesn't know is how he will deal with the feelings he has for Shayna when he is supposed to be protecting her not lusting after her.

Shayna has her own issues, but she has kept them to herself. She carries a guilt that is all consuming. That isn't her only secret. She has crushed on Billy Parish for years. As far as she can tell it is a crush not reciprocated.

Shayna is moving to D.C. after being offered a job as photographer for the Washington Gazette. The plan is to stay with Billy for a long enough to get to know the area, find a place of her own and move on. She doesn't want to move on. Billy doesn't want her to move on. Communication is key, but it seems as if they have a broken lock.

This story is full of sexual tension. This story is full of eye opening revelations. Veterans of military conflicts continue to struggle long after they return to American soil. Billy is lucky in the sense that Shayna gets it. Shayna is supportive. Shayna could be everything if he let her in. Kudos to all the Shaynas out there.

The story's ending is explosive. It is just what Billy needed to knock some sense into him. He finds the strength to confess his feelings. Even more important he stands by Shayna's side, protective and caring. The heat, the confessions, the emotions, the deep love rocked my world. Billy and Shayna will make beautiful babies in the future. Hopefully the author will show us in another book.

Laura Kaye has done it again with her newest Warrior Fight Club novel. She has woven a story of friends to lovers and touches on the reality of what our military may feel once they return to civilian life. Both the hero and heroine are strong characters, and both show great levels of humor. I'm looking forward to the next novel in the series.

Billy is ex ranger who carries physical and emotional scars. Now a private investigator Billy pushes himself to make it through the day. Billy battles himself mentally and takes out his aggression through Warrior Fight Club.
Offering a place to crash for his best buddy’s sister stirs things in Bill head and body that was unexpected and uncontrollable.

Shayna is a talented photographer who has landed herself a fabulous new job with a reputable newspaper. Roomie to neat freak can be a bit flustering but being a roomie to a brooding hottie, well that certainly make up for it, right!

Billy knows she off limits but attraction and chemistry have a way. Shayna keeps her emotional self at distance. The attraction they feel draws them together like magnets. They have explosive chemistry but the emotional suffering they both have but don’t share keep any kind of commitment at an arm length. The passion come easy but getting out of one's head is easier said than done. As the story unfolds, Shayna and Billy break through their respective mental barriers and allow each other in.

I loved Billy and Shayna story. Some many people have event in their lives that put mental blocks up when it comes to love and intimacy. Fighting for What’s His was a bit of an emotional roller coaster that gave the reader lots of feel. Emotional and sexy, my favorite kind of read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Billy definitely had some issues, but not nearly as bad as Noah, who we met in the first book of this series. Billy had his stuff together pretty well considering all he went through. There were a couple of times that I wanted to yell at him for being a jerk, but the frustration with him didn't last long. Shayna was a fun counterpart for him. She was outgoing, brave, and new to town. Shayna's crush from the few times she met Billy definitely expanded into love. They both had survivors guilt from situations they couldn't control and they were able to help the other one heal. This book was a great read and one I highly recommend. I will definitely continue to read this series and anything I can find from Laura Kayne.

Totes enjoyed this one! Billy has issues, serious ones but he's trying to overcome them and Shay is still recovering as well. I loved their first meeting! That Shayna!! LOL Loved her! A strong heroine and a supportive, yet alpha hero!
I'm really enjoying this Warrior Fight Club Series!
