I think this book suffered for being YA (for no discernable reason) which made the characters too young and insufferable rather than making them fully fledged adults. The mystery was fairly poor (wow, who could have predicted that the "evil"/unlikeable characters in P&P we're the bad guys...), the characterisation was bad (which given the characters already exist for you to build from is impressive) and the story was too short for any of that to be improved at all (the audiobook was only 8 hours). I also didn't like that it needlessly pulled quotes from other Austen texts as throwaway lines in ways that cheapened their significance - Lizzie doesn't need to be half agony and half hope about a random thing happening!

P&P is my favourite book, and I've read a lot of adaptations and fanfictions, and unfortunately this one was a miss for me in a lot of ways. I won't be bothering with the rest of the series.
