This is such a good collection of stories seemingly about hair, but really about so much more. They all have heart, humor, and depth. My heart just sunk at the last panel of the titular story. "If I just do this thing, I will fit in," never ends well but it seems like a rite of passage every kid has to go through (and their parents have to watch, knowing that- ugh!).

Un-put-downable and deeply affecting. This is one the most raw and beautiful slice-of-life collections I've ever seen. Highly recommended.
Hot Comb is a compilation of short slice-of-life comics revolving around the subject of Black women and their hair. The comics all feel very realistic and personal. The art style isn't my favorite, and most of the text is hand-written cursive which is somewhat difficult to read.
