An absolute must read for parents and beyond. This book challenged me and taught me so much. It was also a propulsive read and the stories woven throughout grounded the work.

Moderate: Eating disorder
4.5 Quality reporting and writing, and can apply to everyone, not just parents. Tips, suggestions, interviews, and evidence-based journal articles prove that diet culture is absolute garbage.
Wow. This book took me a LONG while to get through, and that is not because it wasn’t good but because every single section made me shake with rage. Such an important read for parents, teachers, doctors, and anyone else who regularly interacts with children and families. I love Sole Smith’s work, but at many points I didn’t need as much of her opinion because the facts themselves are shocking enough to stand alone. This is one I will be buying and handing out to friends and family for years to come. Required reading.

Excellent. Picks up where The Eating Instinct leaves off, but you can tell how the author has grown in her willingness to call out anti-fat bias between that book's publication and this one. Lots of anecdotes, research, and opportunities for action. I can already tell this is one I'll be revisiting as my kids get older.
This is a really good timely book. It is smart and helpful and not only for parents or primary caretakers of children. I learned a lot and appreciated how Sole-Smith called in many things we think are "healthy" or "inclusive". I plan to suggest this book to lots and lots of people.
