The concept of the world's greatest villains masquerading as the heroes is very good and this starts promisingly.

The interactions between the "heroes" are well handled and believable but there's no credible threat and overall the story is a bit lacklustre.

This is what happens when truly psychotic people (as opposed to the Thunderbolts, who I consider merely opportunistic) pretend to be heroes. What happens is a big train wreck although the story itself is not a train wreck.

I love the idea of this - although it is pretty scary! Norman Osborne is really a man on the edge, there is so much tension! And I'm fascinated by his weird hair.. What is it? Cornrows?

Mostly though I feel so bad for Sentry, poor guy. He's got a mental illness and Osborne takes full advantage of his vulnerability.

I am loving Dark Reign!

This was decent, but I haven't read Civil War or Secret Invasion yet so will need to get to those before I continue with this series.

I'm reading this as part of my Venom/Carnage/Toxin/symbiote readthrough of the Spider-Man universe.

This isn't a completely necessary volume if you're just reading it for Venom, there's one moment in the first issue that changes some of the rules for Mac/Venom but mostly this is just an average post-Secret Invasion/pre-Seige Marvel book. It's a clearly short term status quo being set up and dismantled, and the characters eah get a few moments to shine but it feels like filler. Granted, it's Bendis filler, so if you enjoy quippy dialogue and seemingly purposeful plotting, it's a fun read. But it's neither his best work nor the best work for keeping up with Venom.

I was prepared to hate this book because I hate Norman Osborn and don't care about his villain fake avengers, but it was actually a pretty good read and I want to read some more.

Plot: The storyline was okay. I didn't love that it kept jumping around in time. The jumps from Morgana's time to the present made sense, but some of the other jumps kept me from investing in the story. The ending was interesting though and definitely set things up for an interesting arc.
Characters: I didn't think any of the characters were particularly well developed, and I didn't really connect with any of them. The character I liked the most was Morgana, and she was the "bad guy". Granted, I'm not sure any of the characters were even supposed to be that likable, but I still would've liked to at least been able to connect with one or two.
Overall: I was a bit disappointed with this collection. It does seem like the next arc could be interesting, but the characters didn't interest me enough to pick up the next volume.

Dark Avengers, are here to save the world!

Amazing artwork, and an amazing plotline. Everything from issue 1 to 5 was great. My grip with issue #6 was the fact that we didn't get to see the full carnage that the Void brought on the Atlanteans.

Still, after reading Guymer's [b:Dark Avengers: The Patriot List: A Marvel: Untold Novel|56348188|Dark Avengers The Patriot List A Marvel Untold Novel|David Guymer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1631736607l/56348188._SY75_.jpg|87796544], going back to Brian Michael Bendis's run was just fun.
