I was truly all set to give this book a 5 star review. This massive journey took me almost 3 months to digest. But i read it while working full time, being pregnant and delivering a premie child and finishing post graduate school. If this tells you anything i was constantly thinking about this book and the characters and even got my brother to read it as well. HOWEVER- what the hell was this ending? I guess the word I’m looking for is ‘pretentious’. Kira was/is a good character and I’m not entirely sure i understand what she became. For a book as well fleshed out as this one, the ending seemed rushed and unsatisfying, and even kind of backtracked on itself.

Nicely done single-volume space epic. Gets a little preachy with tones of Young Adult literature, but that mostly folds into a quick moving plot that follows our heroine through different space systems battling internal and external forces.
