I read this in pretty much one sitting and found that i loved it so much! I felt like I was actually experiencing everything in this book myself, the writing is extremely immersive and i ended getting so anxious because I felt like I was there. I do wish some things were explained a little more, but i found this a super enjoyable read.

What I love about this book is that you get a real sense of fear and paranoia from multiple people and you get to how the world is affected through rumors, blog entries, etc. It makes it almost seem real, especially when you can never tell who will turn on you. In a sense, it kinda reminds me of Invasion to the Body Snatchers with that creeping sensation all the way through.

Suspenseful and unique. Really excited to watch the movie on Netflix.

Quick read, very suspenseful...open ended though as we never discover just what the plague was. Reminds me of a M. Night Shamalyn movie...creepy beyond belief, weird longer than necessary, intense build up then....nothing. I’m only giving 3 stars because of the quickness of the pace and the whole strong woman surviving element.

4 stars? Maybe? I've been reading books lately that left me thinking weird thoughts like, "Did I like that book I just read? Or really not?" Did I like this because omg creepy? Or not because some parts of it left me cold, like I thought it was a false suspense that it was clear the author was trying to make it a surprise that both kids weren't hers. Or that she idealized Tom as some great person, but I just felt nothing there. The Gary reveal felt false, also. I don't know. The whole premise, it was so creepy, the journey out with her kids, omg, so so scary. It was that almost all of the characters that felt like cardboard cutouts of characters. I don't know why I'm so irritated. I drank too much caffeine yesterday and stayed up until 4 finishing this, so obviously it wasn't that bad. So. 4 stars it is.

My heart was literally pounding at some scenes in this. The concept of this book worked SO well, and I can imagine it works better than the movie given how much of the horror and suspense is based on lack of sight. Goodness I was genuinely spooked at some parts of this. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, though. This was such a perfect length for binging, which as always I think heightens the experience of a good horror/thriller.
