This book was kinda slow to start but when it did... oof.. it's terrifying. It makes you think, what if this were to happen? And just the thought of a creature being near you, in the same room as you, gives me chills. There were scenes in the book that just gave me straight chills and goosebumps all over my arms. I kept pausing, shaking myself because it's creeping me out, making me scared to have my eyes open... I would definitely recommend this book!!

Holy. Shit. Incredibly well written. Suspense. Mystery. Horror. So many feelings. So many fears. So many questions, most with horrifying answers, and the biggest question still lurking long after you've turned the last page.

I spent 8 hours one day in early December 2019 reading the first half of this book. I couldn't sleep that night and had to put it away for two months. I picked it back up at the end of January 2020 and finished the second half in another 8 hour day. So I like to joke that "I finished it in two days but it took me two months to do it."

This book was amazing, I loved the interweaving timeline and the storytelling throughout the entire novel. Everything came to a head within the last 60 pages and I couldn't stop reading. A great thriller. Some scenes are a bit gory,
including a descriptive dog death, suicidal tendencies, violence, and dark themes.
Definitely recommend to horror fans!

Birdbox was not what I expected, I won't lie. It doesn't mean it wasn't a good book, or that it wasn't a good thriller, because it was chilling and fast-paced and breathtaking. However, I have abandoned the genre of dystopian books for a while now, and reading them isn't a pleasant experience for me, or one I usually enjoy. This was focused much more on the aspect of dystopia than the one of horror or thriller, and it also did not give me a fear of darkness like I wanted it to.

If you are new on the genre of horror and like dystopian, by all means, read this book. It is still thrilling in its own way. It was just weak for me, as a reader, and I will not be continuing with the series. It did not feel like a waste of time though, and for this reason, I will recommend it to specific demographics. Just, if you are an avid fan of horror, don't expect too much.
