I think overall this book was fine. I am religious myself but at times was overwhelmed and confused as to how the families never once got angry with God. I feel that’s a normal part of the grieving process and they just skipped over it. It’s a great story, but I’m not sure how they couldn’t have known it wasn’t their daughter. Overall, it’s a quick read and a great story, I just struggled to accept anyone could be so (seemingly) okay with their daughter being killed as long as she goes home to God. It’s their story though, so you can’t fault it for that.
This book is not really about the accident or the mistaken identity, but that is pretty apparent from the first page. This is a book about faith, the families involved in this story are full believers in God and they want to use this time in their lives to spread the Word.
This is an important fact to know when looking at this book, every page has a Bible verse, and every page has faith. This is not a book about how it all happened, it is about how they handled everything that did happen.
This is the reason for all the mixed reviews, people start reading the book for the story of this terrible accident and the events after but that is not what the families wrote. The families went through these events and came out stronger in their faith and wanting to share that faith.
3 stars: the book was a simple read, 2 days done. the way these families handles the events in the story is one part hard to believe another part amazing. this is more of a devotional then a story of true events. (this is not the type of book I would generally read but it was easy to read so why not)
I hesitate to say anything bad about this book, because this is a true story and who am I to judge how they handle such grief. I do wish they would have done maybe a short 1 year or 2 year later update on everyones lives now. otherwise this is a good book as long as you realize what you are about to read. (which I think is pretty obvious from the beginning)

This was an amazing story. If I had not seen this story all over the tv & magazines, it would have been hard to believe it really happened. Through all the tragedy that both families went through, their faith in God stayed strong and helped them through the difficult times. I could not put this book down.
This book inspired me to trust in God no matter what happens and to always look for the good in situations no matter how hopeless and meaningless they seem to be. The Ceraks and the Van Ryn's faith has inspired so many people around the world including me.
The writing isn’t great. The story itself is unbelievable and a page turner. While there are questions that the reader has—the families can’t answer them either—and I’m OK with that. What I’ll take from this book is the mystery of what perhaps was the need for each family in those five weeks and long after the accident. An experience that shaped them in ways that wouldn’t have presented themselves otherwise. For their willingness to share an incredibly personal story I’m grateful.
This was by far one of the best books I have read in years! It made me cry and broke my heart but also inspired me to see how people can overcome things that seem to be so tragic. These two families were so incredibly brave and had to endure something that no one should have to endure. My heart ached with each new chapter and I found myself moved to tears over and over. This is an absolute must read story for everyone!
This book was so touching, i couldn't stop reading it! For this to be a true story and for them to be able to re-live their tragic experience to make this book possible, it was unbelievable.
inspiring
slow-paced
An enjoyable book but I read it expecting to find out more about how the mistaken identity happened. Heavy on the religious side but as a non-religious person I still read and enjoyed this.
