Firstly, the writing was really good and the story was enough to keep me engaged. However calling it erotic is a stretch, honestly, as most of the sex scenes were incredibly violent and disturbing.
I had a few critiques of the books I wanted to lay out:
1) The book was far too long. Sometimes it felt like the same scene was repeated over and over and didn’t advance the plot and I sometimes found myself skipping over these scenes. At times the author didn’t even care to go into what was happening and would skim over plot points herself.
2) The sex scenes. I understand that the book is supposed to be the darkest we’ve ever read or whatever, but the violence was literally gratuitous and depraved. It also involved underage individuals and there was an incest scene—which were disturbing to say the least. Especially since the incest scene occurs with a major character and her father and she never broaches it again?! Like what?!
I feel like the violence could have definitely been implied in some cases and we would have gotten the point. Some of this stuff was so sick that I don’t know how the author came up with it.
3) The FMC is the most abused person I’ve ever heard of, yet somehow she’s still a Mary Sue. I understand she’s supposed to be special and that’s why men are so in love with her (I don’t want to spoil too much), but even amongst the other special women of her kind she’s STILL not like the other girls and so much better than them. Every guy wants to be with her, yet she’s still sweet and innocent and humble and everyone loves her anyway.
4) The MMC is still a rapist and no one is going to talk about this? Not only does he rape the FMC but his family have sex slaves yet he’s still “one of the best people anyone has ever known.” I had trouble believing any of the “good men” were good knowing this.
It’s definitely a good story, but proceed with caution. I had nightmares at one point and questioned if it was good for my mental health to continue the story. I pushed through and I’m glad but I definitely question to author’s mental health.
Also if you’re pregnant you probably want to skip this one.
Anna becomes a slave to this upper-echelon society for the powerful leaders and such of the world. It is literally a world-wide society with members everywhere. However, Anna is special because she is half-immortal (I’m talking like guardian angel Gabriel immortal) that’s not who her father was but that’s the only guardian angel I could think of off the top of my head. So she has special powers of persuasion.. if she was left on her own and could grow into her own person she would be very powerful and well desired. However, if she were to be corrupted from a young age…someone could take that power for themselves…if you see where I’m going with this.
Anyway, Anna suffers and when I say suffer I mean most of the time when I was reading I wanted to cover my eyes like you would in a horror movie but I couldn’t (because obviously it is a book). I settled for reading from my peripheral vision so I could gain some distance because its brutal. I’m not gonna lie. Its harsh. Like worse than Haunting/Hunting Adeline.
But it is so good too. The author writes Anna so well…to where you actually feel a connection to her. I was moved by her many times to tears and that like NEVER happens for me in these books. However in this book, I love the relationship between Anna and several of her…”friends?” Idk what to call them. The book goes through 10 years of her life; starting when she’s 16 and ending when she’s 26.
I’m a stickler for my endings. I hate when they drag on and are just fluff because everything got resolved 3 chapters before the end of the book. This book, however, had me on the edge of my seat. The pages were dwindling, I was 98% through and still didn’t know how it was going to end. Amazing. I loved it.
The book intertwines three story elements: 1) a secret and ancient society known as the Brotherhood with wealth and positions of power 2) Supernatural beings called Immortals and half-Immortals and… 3) Sex.
I thought this was very good and well written. The story itself is definitely unique! Despite combining multiple books into one long book - I never got bored or lost sight of the story. This is a real achievement for such a long read and I like the fact that it touches multiple-genres and is not overtly this or that.
I also read her Finding Sabrina series and think that Honeycutt is a very creative writer. There are many difficult scenes involving rape and torture and she doesn’t hold back with soft word choices nor does she shy away from exploring the emotional despair and vulnerability left behind. She takes her time. How does someone who has spent years in sexual servitude and violence overcome their fears and feelings of shame and unworthiness to recognize love and trust it? This book definitely gets heavy at times. I felt the hopelessness.
About the sex…
There’s a lot of sex in this book. I mean a lot. And different types of it (romantic sex, violent rape, couples, gay/straight, threesomes, orgies, etc). Sex is the underlying theme that really ties the key story elements together so it’s heavily written on the pages. And despite the review warnings and having read a lot of dark erotica-romance - I was still taken aback and surprised by how much sex there was and how graphic many the scenes were. The rape and torture also become increasingly brutal and dark as the book progresses. Combined with the supernatural- sex is used for literal power exchanges, for bonding (i.e, slave to Master), it’s used for pleasure, rites of passage, for punishment and cruelty, domination and mind control. There are sex slaves born, bred, and trained for generations.
So.. lots of sex and sex-related stuff. You’ve been warned.
If you’re triggered by this type of content -definitely skip it. If you’re still intrigued - give it a read.

I'm so glad I finished it, and was able to see the happy ending at the end. Read it because it's an emotion Rollercoaster, and a surprising love story. BUT remember this is a dark story. People got their panties a twist over Den of Vipers. That was a cake walk compared to this tale.
