super quick cute read. definitely deals with some heavier topics, but not main plot. very cottage core with i would say some light academia vibes. seeing the queer trans characters in a poly relationship was very refreshing to see. loved all the vibes and the characters so much! (and the steamy scenes ofcc) also no plot either really besides maybe their relationship? but yes would def recommend for a quick light read!

This book has a good premise, I just didn’t really connect with the characters because they aren’t fully developed in this short book. Book length and character development don’t always go hand in hand (I’ve read short books with really well developed characters and long books with underdeveloped characters), so I don’t know if this book would have been better if it was longer, but I wish there had been more time/space for things to come together. I do like the setting and the (very minimal) plot, but for a character-driven book, there just wasn’t quite enough character development or insight into the characters and their relationships.

Ebook
* Summary: Madeline, a struggling aspiring author, takes refuge with a friend of a friend in the countryside - Victor, a reclusive author himself. There, she meets the compelling Audrey - a farmer who lives nearby, and begins to explore new relationships with both.
* Stats: HR (1948), FFM (all trans MCs), open door, stand alone.
* Notes: I enjoyed this and found the representation of trans characters and polyamory within the historical context was thoughtful and interesting - but I didn’t really feel like the emotional depth of the relationship was well enough explored. I understand *how* they all come to be in a relationship, but I’m not 100% on board with *why.* I suspect that this is in large part due to how short the book is! I’ll happily read more from the author.
