I really enjoyed this book. I had previously read the other book in the series and was looking forward to this. The story was good, the characters, engaging, and the writing really brings the characters to life. It left a lot of unanswered questions for me which I hope is indicative of more books to come.

Adam Silvera once again broke my heart (pun intended)

I enjoyed this one more than its sequel, but I think it also made me enjoy its sequel more. There was a liberal dose of foreshadowing but it wasn’t quite heavy handed. The twist at the end was enough of a surprise to be pleasant, and the characters overall felt very human.

Honestly it was a great prequel to the Death-Cast world, but some parts were just blah and not captivating or were repetitive.
