It wasn't written the best but I love Leonard Nimoy so it was a good read.
William Shatner shares his memories of Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek, and their 50 year friendship. I had no idea Shatner and Nimoy had such similar backgrounds.
This book really humanized Nimoy for me, instead of the unapproachable Spock. I could more easily see him as a person through Shatner's eyes. I loved Shatner's honest love for Nimoy. You could tell he cared very much for him. They had gone through a lot together: Star Trek, addiction, multiple marriages and divorces, aging, etc.
Star Trek is so iconic and Spock is such a legendary character. It was interesting to hear Shatner's recollections. Nimoy and Shatner were inseparably tied to their characters of Spock and Kirk, for better or for worse. This book also gave me greater insight into Shatner. I had always seen him as a bit of a fool, if I were to be honest, and his narration helped me see more into his method and approach to his craft.

It was truly "Fascinating". Yeah, yeah, I'm a Trekkie. LOL.
Their stories and lives are interesting to me, as quite some time ago I stopped reading about the celeb culture, it was just too much for me. This is what I wanted to know about without knowing that. The real people.
I still remember, before we had a TV ourselves, my mother visiting friends every Friday night to watch Star Trek. We kids obviously played outside instead. Having watched on Netflix recently the original series, and currently going through the Next Generation series, I realised that we in South Africa obviously watched it a few years after it was originally released in the USA. I'm a fan.
I'm now interested to find all the stuff mentioned here and see what I can find that they did.

If you can get past the Shatner, this really is a delightful little book. A lot of the stories described here are familiar to me because I recently read I Am Spock, but the stories that were unfamiliar touched my heart. Yes, the narrative style is a little disjointed at times, and the punctuation should've been edited more carefully, but the last fifty or so pages of this book made me nostalgic for a "remarkable man" that I'd never met, and for a period of Star Trek that I've only just become a part of. I became teary-eyed reading the last chapter. Mr. Nimoy really was a legend, and I wish more and more every day that I had been able to meet him and love him and his work sooner.
I truly enjoyed this book, though I do not like how William Shatner brought the stories to life. The title of this book should have been "Leonard and me" or "Leonard...seen through my life". I actually feel that Shatner is a vain man, who is self absorbed...and he got more in the way of this book than to expose new information. The actual information and stories were wonderful to hear about (though I wish it was only about Leonard Nimoy, instead it was about Shatner). We will truly miss Leonard Nimoy. It saddens me to hear that the two of them in life ended without resolution. Thank you.
I learned so much more about one of my favorite actors who played my favorite character, Mr. Spock. I am ready to go see his photographs and learn even more about the man.
Loved this audiobook read by William Shatner considering I have always been a fan of Star Trek and Spock. The amount of depth he pours into telling the story of the up and down friendship between him and Leonard Nimoy is legendary and it is surprising to hear of the other facets of Nimoy's life as poet, photographer and philanthropist.

A surprising and moving account of Shatner and Nimoy's friendship and career trajectories. If you're a Trekkie, or someone who is interested in the life of a gifted actor, this is a book for you. Shatner's writing is conversational and honest and you really feel the affection he had for Nimoy, may he RIP.
