This was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be, especially after how boring and redundant World Without A Superman was. That book had no action at all and was basically documenting how sad and depressed everybody was after Superman died. But this one was really, really cool. Cyborg Superman was much more menacing than I thought he would be. I already loved Steel, but now I love him even more. I now have an understanding of what the Eradicator is. And I used to hate the design of 90's Superboy, but it grew on me a lot while reading this. I knew about the stuff with Coast City, but I had no idea that it took place in this book, so I was surprised to see all of that happen, and I liked the involvement of Hal Jordan. Really good book and a nice conclusion to the story.

Great art and a compelling storyline wrap up the Death and Life of Superman. The four Supermen from Reign of the Supermen show their true selves and Superman shows what truly maks a hero.
My only complaints were some of the side stores which didn't quite get finished or fit the larger narrative.

Another "Meh".
I first came across the death and return of Superman in the novel form and maintain that it is superior to the comic version. I'll maintain that this is true now that I've read the comic versions.
The novelization includes some back story and explanations for things that would, in comic form, be marked with an asterisk and a reference to a certain issue of a series. For someone interested in a complete version of this story without referring to various others, the novelization is clearly the way to go.
Some parts of the story are included in the novelization where they don't appear in the comic at all. Of particular note is the scene where Dr. Hamilton explains why Superman appeared "dead".

An incredible ending to an amazing story-arc, this deals first with the four pretenders to the throne (Superboy, Steel, Cyborg-Superman, and The Eradicator) and their different approaches to the legacy left behind by the big guy, through to the return of Big Blue himself and a shocking occurrence that led to the eventual downfall of Hal "Green Lantern" Jordan. Starts a little slow, but once the adrenaline gets flowing it doesn't let up until the very end.

I was thoroughly confused at the beginning, but I think that was the point, especially with Visor Superman and whether he was the real Superman or not. After the initial confusion, the pace picks up quite a bit and it was such a fun read. There wasn't as much cop-aganda in this comic as funeral for a friend, so for that I'm grateful. Also, any Batman cameo is so fun, sad that after all the teasing before the real Batman couldn't be there.

I enjoyed this far more than the Death of Superman trade, and much more than I expected. It's very 90s, and Superboy can be a total tool at times, but there are heaps of really well established characters and I definitely cared about them. Ultimately, I knew what would happen (it's kind of in the title, yo) but it was still interesting to work out which of the Supermen to trust. The writing is a bit inconsistent in quality, with it being such a long arc shared between so many creators. But overall, this was a fun read.

This entry was an improvement on the previous, but was still not as good as the first 2 volumes. It was nice to have Clark/Superman back and to see more of the Justice League in this one. I also really liked the ending.

The Death of Superman is a simple story well told, a real page turner. This on the other hand is a convoluted mess and quite the slog to get through. The first 300 pages are often tedious and it only gets going in the last hundred when Superman returns, and even then he acts and looks more like The Punisher than Superman.

It's a mess everywhere, Lex is a bearded ginger that goes out with a Supergirl and I really enjoyed that fun mess somehow ;)
