I hoped to enjoy this more as I love Matt Haigs writing. Still enjoyable and would recommend but not the best I have read from him.

Once the premise of Matt Haig's novel is discovered it doesn't take much imagination to guess the ending. Especially as he sign-posts it about a third of the way in. The concept of an alien's take on the human race has been seen before on TV shows such as Star Trek, Mork and Mindy and Third Rock from the Sun. So it's a pity that Haig does not take the opportunity for greater social satire. A good example is the visit to a football match, in which the protagonist comments on the taste of cola and crisps.

Well written and an interesting premise but kinda heavy at times. Read this if you want a brief existential crisis
