Sorry, Ken. As much as I enjoy your writing, I can't seem to be grabbed by this one. Perhaps the timing is wrong.

I had no idea Ken Jennings had written books, but was drawn to this when I heard it recommended by author Bill Bryson. Ken Jennings has Bryson's same gift of making seemingly dull subject matter interesting, through anecdotes and light humour. Enjoyable read!

read concurrently with Wayfinding. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36742965-wayfinding
it was a fun experience to overlap the topic from different angles.

I loved this fascinating book about people who love maps, written with humor, verve, and delight by self-confessed map nerd Ken Jennings.

With so many books to read I have a 75 page rule for print and 1 CD rule for audio.
I didn't make it past the first CD. I was looking forward to the book because I am not a map head.
This was my first Ken Jennings attempt. I will try his other works.

This one is perfect for anyone who likes maps, geography, or is just interested in the quirks of our world. Jennings's style is very much akin to Bill Bryson's, so if you like him you will enjoy this one as well.

This book was brilliant - I throughly enjoyed every single page. It is chock full of interesting facts and stories about the world's geographic and cartographic oddities and I couldn't get enough! Jennings is also very humorous and wrote in an easy, enjoyable style. If you're one of those kids who used to pull out an atlas and pour over it much the same way other kids did with 'Where's Waldo' books - you're going to love this. The best chapters were on the national geographic geography bee and on geocaching. The peeks he takes inside these geeky little subcultures are absolutely fascinating. I would highly recommend this book to pretty much anyone with a mild interest in travel and geography. Great stuff!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one, since I am a maphead. Ken Jennings is now in my list of folks I'd like to have for dinner. Or actually as a companion on a road trip or geocaching adventure.
