This was a delightful peek into the lives of two literary figures and their unique pet. Made me want to google of things for a deeper look.

This is the story of Mitz the marmoset who lived with Leonard and Virginia Woolf in the 1930s and it is such a sweet and endearing litttle novella. I'll probably never read another biography of a marmoset again (really!l) and Nunez delivers as she so deftly navigates humor and grief, all told through the eyes of Mitz, the marmoset of Bloomsbury.

Loving every minute of this delightful tale of Virginia and Leonard Wolf and their marmoset!

A gem of a book. Truly exquisite. It tells the true - but obviously fictionalized - story of a marmoset (a little monkey) adopted by Virginia and Leonard Woolf. Some of it is told from Mitz's POV, some omniscient, it uses real events, people, and places, to tell a fictional tale. You feel immersed in the Woolfs' (sometimes known as the Woolves') world and you get a hint of what's to come between the imminent war and Virginia's mental health issues. It is a tiny, lovely novel that hit all of my sweet spots (which apparently include monkeys and writers).

4.5, maybe. A charmer that could proudly sit on the shelf next to Flush.

The true story of Mitz, Leonard and Virginia Woolf’s pet marmoset! So charming. *stares wistfully into the distance imagining having a Bloomsbury group membership plus a tiny monkey in my front shirt pocket*

This was very cute and an interesting look into the life of the Woolfs. Sigrid Nunez really knows how to write about the beauty of the relationships between humans and animals without making it feel too sappy.

However, as a personal note, from all the information given to me about this couple has got me thinking hanging out with them would be insufferable.
