Irish historical fiction mixed in with warring magical factions? Sign me up! I found this book after seeing the author appear on a youtube video with Mike's Book Reviews, so I decided to check it out, and it was a very good read.
Good characters, a plot loosely based on ancient Irish history, and a plot that flowed well. Prose and dialogue were very well done as well.
I was not intending to add another series, but this was too good not to continue.

This was a very well written book. Lawless’s Prose is excellent and the characters (2 POVs) were interesting.

The premise of this book was great, the story was interesting the writing and plotting to get there I felt was not what I enjoyed.
The book was significantly better in the last quarter which is what took it to 2.5 and may see me continuing to the next book but I did find Gormflaith two dimensional and lacking.
The cover is stunning though.

An addictive book. Fantasy sprinkled with enough historical aspects to be easy to follow even while learning about new magic and political systems. The FMCs are strong in their individual ways and I love them both so so much. Cannot wait to devour the next one!
