Solid start to the series. I struggled to get through the middle, but that was just a me thing, I think. The ending gives me hope that I will like the next two more.

I'm not super interested in this. Both of the main female characters have annoying roles - one is more or less following the whims of her partner and society at her own expense, and the other is scheming to get her son into a position of power. I'm frustrated that it feels so boring even a third of the way in.
