3.6 AVERAGE

I don't write a lot of reviews as I am not the best at writing and explaining myself and my emotions towards certain books however this made me feel a lot and it was mostly confusion.

There was some good things about this book one been the main character is deaf and has great representation surrounding that as the author is deaf herself and that really translates in the book as you can tell there are real experiences been deaf in the book. I would love to read more books with deaf mcs.

Part from that the rest of the plot/characters were just confusing. Theres little to no world building so no aspect of the school, course , magic? , ghosts? are explained on why or how they exist or what they even do. They have these mirror worlds and where some people can travel through different worlds?? I think but its really not explained even though its quite a complicated piece of magic? this also just kinda happens and there's not a lot of exploring this as most of the book is taken up by the weird romance between the two main characters instead.

Another issue I had was the plot just seemed to skip and jump time with no complete scenes which felt very jarring and hard to read. You would just be getting and understanding a scene and suddenly they would be somewhere else and in the middle of a different conversation which I felt like I had missed the first half to and not finished the first part, very frustrating to read.

I had no idea what her course was or what she was studying as it was never explained and I feel like she never learnt anything either even though she went to classes and did exams it was never explained what she learnt or what was happening?

Honestly overall just a super confusing read and not what I thought it was gonna be at all.

"I crawled out of Hell for you."
MA'AM, Kelly Andrews, I beg your finest pardon, I will be thinking on that line and Colton Price for the next WEEK. I love a good open-door romance, but there is something about a well-written closed-door romance that evokes all the feels.

This story follows Delaney, a deaf girl who has had a near-death experience and a fear of the dark, as she embarks on her first year at a college that focuses on lesser-known classes, such as how to walk through parallel worlds through doors in the sky. She runs into Colton Price, the golden child who had a similar brush with death, and Delaney, when he was young, only this time, he is a member of a secret group and is warned to stay away from her. You can guess how THAT works out. There's magic, cursed body parts, students going missing and popping back up alive, but different, a slight enemies to lovers tension, and a group of three gals just trying to pass thier classes while hearing the dark talk back to them, seeing dead boys in thier mirror, and crushing on their roommates.

Hauntingly beautiful
slow-paced

i didn't care much for the romance, which took up the bulk of the book, but everything else was wonderful and i loved the deaf representation. would love to see more from kelly andrew!

DID NOT FINISH: 56%

Not an awful book but some things just weren’t explained and I read some reviews only to find out these are never explained. I read over 200 pages waiting for some big plot moments which never happened.

Me entretuvo pero solo eso. Ningún personaje me gustó mucho, la verdad, pero la trama sí me pareció bastante interesante y creo que esperaba más.
