I grabbed this on a whim, too, because Kevin Smith is awesome. And he continued to be awesome. This is what I remember from when I used to read X-Men comics (same style, that is to say). He said, in the intro, that he made the comic book he would like to read, and it was really cool.

An interesting read and a definetly a fresh take on Green Arrow, but the storyline wasn't very compelling. The choice of villain felt unnatural for this particular character, and much of the book was spent profiling other heroes in the DC U. It's almost as if Kevin Smith tough that the Arrow was too boring on his own and so Batman needs to be around to pepper things up.

Highly enjoyed this one. Felt like a breath of fresh air after Arrow. I read the Year One book a few years ago and really dug it, but this? This is the best Green Arrow. This is him at his Bruce Timm/Paul Dini cartoony finest. I never knew how much "Holy Hannah!" could speak volumes about character, but it can.

Classic GA aside, this was such a nicely contained run. Pretty easy background DC shenans to understand even if you aren't that well-versed in all the Crisis stuff. Green Arrow has been dead and now he's not. So what happened and how does he find out? All the details are there, all the players present. No deus ex machina, and some good mythology set up for the future.

I only bought, and still haven't read, the first issue of the Green Arrow rebirth, so I'm not sure what's going on there. But all the 52 and Arrow shit was bad for the Green Arrow line. If only the last 4 and a half years of Green Arrow comics and Arrow show had been like this...

As sad as I am that Hastings is closing, I'd like to thank their 40%off GN sales for leading me to take a chance on this story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Was never into Green Arrow but I do like Kevin Smith. Decent volume and lots happens. Other than that, nothing special.

I did enjoy the shout out to The Sandman though!

This ended up being much better than I anticipated. Kevin Smith had such a great idea of who this character was and brought him back in a very satisfying way. I was very happy with this.

I WANTED to give this 5 stars because some of it is sooooo good ... But the dialogue and call backs can be a little heavy-handed and that climax .... I mean, comic book satanism and a cute monster under your bed demon? Really???? The fact that it retains 4 stars is a marvel actually.
