4.5! I loved getting lost in this universe, and I adore these characters. This duology ended on a perfect note. Can’t wait for more!

This duology was an instant favorite. I’m always hesitant to step back into “old” worlds but Bardugo delivered and so much more. The cast of characters was perfect, the story was complex and wrapped up beautifully, so many important themes were discussed with care and respect. I genuinely think this duology elevates the Grishaverse and I can’t wait to see what Bardugo does next in this world.

I put off reading Rule of Wolves for while, especially considering I had it pre-ordered. I think there’s something to that, as even once started I found the first 200ish pages to be quite a slog. Additionally, while the middle was tense and thrilling page turner, I found the ending rather unsatisfying and rushed especially as an end to the Grishaverse. I think there were to many threads to tie up and not enough time. To me it failed to live up to what I wanted from the sequel to King of Scars and the end of the Grishaverse to be. I don’t think we needed to see the crows or the Titanium Heist, the Darklings return like barely contributed to the plot, Mayu maybe should have been introduced as a POV earlier in the book, and honestly I find it hard to believe Nina is gonna live as Mila and although a trans-masc-icon like Hanne wouldn’t get sick of being in charge of Fjerda and pretending real quick.
When I say I didn’t have fun with this, it’s an understatement. I had to debate between one or two stars for this mess lol
I was so hyped after reading this book that I gave it 5 stars. But with a couple of days away and a little more rational thinking, I'm bumping it down to 4. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but it wouldn't stand on its own merit. There were a lot of callbacks and references and fan-service moments that would mean absolutely nothing to someone who just picked up this duology and wanted to enjoy it.
As a returning fan, I love Nikolai and Zoya. I love seeing Nina get her spy on. I'm here for character cameos. I would highly recommend this duology to any Grishaverse fan.

I am at a lost for words…
This series might be my favorite from Leigh Bardugo, so far. I loved King of Scars but Rule of Wolves is definitely my favorite out of the two.
The plot, characters, and writing is so rich. My favorite aspect was Nina and Hanne’s relationship. It was so beautiful and the buildup was fantastic. I was so scared for Nina when Hanne “died”. After finding out the plan that Hanne put together, I was so relieved. Nina did not need to loose someone else. And her and Hanne ruling Fjerda together... just perfect.
Zoya’s story was also amazing. When she took the crown I was so happy. She is a fantastic character. I loved every moment with her. Her and Nikolai’s relationship is also so cute.
Again, I wasn’t a huge fan of the extra povs. Mayu’s was good I think, but I found that The Monk’s pov was really boring. I know a lot of people love The Darkling, however, I am not a fan of his character that much. Though I did like how Bardugo wrapped up his story.
I feel like that’s all I have to say. Overall, a seriously good series.

3.5 ⭐
Sempre notevole, invece, il world building.
