Quite a shortish, but boring book written in old style English. He probably was the Paulo Coelho of the century - an author writing platitudes and breaking down open doors...

This is a great little allegory, the journey of everyman Christian travelling through the world and all its perils. Reads like an adventure tale a la Candyland--Evangelist directing Christian to flee the City of Destruction and leave to Mount Zion and the celestial city where God awaits him, so long as he follows the difficult path set before. Literature's most famous allegory.
I had to spark note for part 2. I just couldn’t do it y’all.

A timeless Christian classic. We are all pilgrims on a journey and I See myself in several passages of the book depending on the season of life. Will reread and reread. Not giving 5 stars because this edition does not contain the second part with Christiana's trip
I find it quite ill at ease to rate a book of this magnitude.
It’s is full of scared , holy texts and it is divinely inspired.
The construction of the story is in a metaphorical and similitude form , so it needs to be interpreted with that in mind .
I also think this book is for a practising imperfect Christian with reasonable knowledge of the Bible .
If just read as a piece of literature may even seem absurd for the ill informed mind .
The depth of theological reasoning is quite intense but brilliant and so enriching .
This book needs to be read at-least once and preferably many times ….

Normally I enjoy books written in old English - this book reminded me why some people do not enjoy it. It was really hard to read this and understand what it was talking about. It is also one story with no stopping points, so pausing (where one would normally end a chapter and go to bed) was hard. I think that it has important Christian values in it, but I missed most of them I believe. This book is not for everyone, but I recommend it for someone who wants to dig more into a Christian allegory.
