A pretty typical romance with a lot of familiar tropes. The chemistry between Jagger and Paisley was there, but I didn't feel fully invested in their relationship. Jagger, the reformed bad boy, had his charms, but Paisley's indecisiveness got frustrating after a while.

The pacing was decent, and there were some good emotional beats, but the third-act breakup killed my buzz completely because it came at the worst moment -- just when I thought I was safe from it. I liked that the miscommunication didn't linger too long, but it was still unnecessary, especially considering how well they communicated earlier on. Though, to be fair, we need to keep in mind that this was written in 2014, well before we began rejecting the third-act breakup as a necessary part of the formula.

Jagger and Paisley, I'm happy for you, but you're not going to be keeping me up at night. I'm more intrigued by the supporting characters, and excited to read their books.

This is the second book in this series (both stand alone) and follows Jagger Bateman's story, who you might remember as Josh's roommate and best friend in the first book, "Full Measures."

I can't believe I scored these two books for $0.99 each! Josh and Jagger are both fantastic heroes. I've definitely developed a new love for military guys, that's for sure! I have to say, I preferred Ember to Paisley as the heroine, but I could relate to Paisley in ways that I couldn't really relate to Ember. (Overprotective mother, for example!) I also enjoyed that we were treated to Jagger's perspective in this book, and lamented never having gotten Josh's. It really added to the overall experience. There is a bit of instalove in this book, or at least instalust, but I felt the author developed the relationship steadily and believably, at least within the parameters of the typical NA romance genre. There was also some over-the-top sap in some parts, a bit out of character for Jagger and even Josh, but hey, it's fantasy, so I'll cut it some slack. I've read worse anyway.

I also liked that Will wasn't a typical black/white villain/competitor. He was developed as a secondary character and even did some growing up as the book progressed. I wouldn't even mind reading his story, as a matter of fact. His friendship with Paisley was even sweet and his rivalry with Jagger was entertaining. Big bonus points for featuring a little bit of Josh and Ember as well! Would've liked to see a bit more, but I know this wasn't about them.

While I did prefer the first book in terms of characters and storyline, I thought this one was better in terms of writing style and flow, which shows the author has learned and grown as a writer. (Not that the first one had bad writing at all, but we all improve with experience!) This is a highly recommended read if you like NA and/or military heroes. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

O.M.G!!!!!!! O.M.G!!!!! Jagger has a place in my heart that will never leave!

I read Full Measures not too long ago, fell in love with Rebecca's writing. Josh Walker definitely hasn't left my mind and heart. When I read a book, I become that character, I tend to feel those feelings, and I cry and laugh at every word. I have the emotions that come out. She writes exactly what you feel and what she writes you have no choice but to feel. I am anxious for the next words on paper by my new dear friend!

Jagger Bateman, sexy aspiring apache flying soldier. Paisley Donavon, gorgeous generals daughter with a heart condition. An unexpected meeting at the beach where he not only saved her life, but she found herself in his heart. Together they live in a bubble with obstacles!!!

A MUST READ!!!!!

I almost put this down during the first few pages. It felt a bit awkward and cheesy. I decided to stick it out a bit longer and it did get better.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Some of the writing felt awkward. The character development was decent. The story seemed a bit too unbelievable.

The part I felt really strange was when it came to Paisley’s (a name that I hate btw) reservations about getting a pacemaker. She acted as if it was a sentence to a half life. I dated a person when I was a teenager who had a pacemaker. He lived as any normal teen. My dad has one and had no limitations or anything. I know other people who have them as well. It just seemed so odd that see acted as if her health would be even poorer than it already was.
The love scenes between Paisley and Jagger (another awful name) were pretty good. Lots of build up and it was kind of nice that they didn’t just jump right into bed.
