No Strings by Mila Hart
Erotic Romance Novella, standalone in a series
I was excited to read No Strings because of the authors that make up Mila Hart: Stephie Walls and Kristie Leigh (Kristie’s debut). But I honestly didn’t register that the type of books they write are short erotic romances. I’m not sure why I thought it was rom-com so I was a little surprised at first. I want to say straight up that this is not my normal genre. But if you are a fan of some of the other author duos who write erotic novellas, then No Strings is totally up your alley.

When we first met Brayleigh, I had some mixed feelings. I love that she was not a virgin and made no apologies for being a sexual creature.
“One and done. In and out. Guys did it all the time, and I wouldn’t apologize for having a good time.”

But with her being a socialite, having rich entitled friends and enjoying the hookup, I felt like she and her friends were the girls you love to hate, you know, the ones that flirt with your guy without a care. Nothing they did made me like them, they just seemed like rich snobs. But once she hooked up with Carter, the hot birthday guy she met in a bar, I started warming up to her.

I loved Carter right away, he was the perfect alpha who needed a good woman, but only wanted no-strings. They both couldn’t forget the other, but they both knew the rules. One night, no strings.
“I could tell by looking at her, she wasn’t the fireman’s girlfriend type, which worked out perfectly because this fireman wasn’t looking for a girlfriend. Just a night."

But when they are thrown together again, will the spark turn into a flame that can’t be extinguished?

When they meet again and we get to know Brayleigh more I warmed up to her a lot and really liked them together. Plus the sex was HOT.

Likes:

  • •A quick one-sitting read (also one-handed!)

  • •Very hot.

  • •It felt complete which I find rare for novellas.

  • •By the end I loved all the characters.

Dislikes:

  • •I REALLY disliked the heroine and her friends at first, but luckily they grew on me.

  • •There were a few minor details that didn’t make sense. I had an ARC, so these may have been fixed prior to release.

The Down & Dirty:

I didn’t realize that No Strings was a short erotic romance (though it says it on all their branding!) and honestly, that isn’t my normal read. I feel like I can’t rate a novella on the same scale as a full-length book because there is no way that ANY novella will live up. But if you know going in that it’s a short, erotic romance in the same style as a few other writing teams, then I think you will find this a very enjoyable read. I will admit though, that loving the heroine of a story is my necessity in loving a book, and at first, I really disliked Brayleigh. Though she won me over in the end, as did the whole story, if it wasn’t an ARC I had committed to read I would probably have DNFd.
I am SO GLAD I stuck it out and got to know the real Brayleigh behind the society bitch, and now that I know what to expect, I am really looking forward to the next Mila Hart story.

Rating (Novella Rating): 4 Stars, 4.75 Heat

3.5 Stars! I had mixed feelings on this one a bit. I loved the story line and premise! I know it was a novella but I wished for a touch more meat - but that is honestly just my personal preference. At the beginning, I found myself not liking the female lead at all. There were several places where I found myself stopping to reread details that did not quite flow. I did, however, read an Advanced Read Copy and it is very possible changes were made after the time I read it. Overall though, the story was really good and I was invested in the characters by the end. If short and sexy novellas are your thing, you will likely absolutely LOVE this!

A fast paced short story that I absolutely loved. A steamy hot fire fighter and a girl who wants a normal life not the high society who parents want for her. One night was all it was suppose to be between Carter and Brayleigh. Carter was out on the town for his birthday all he wanted was one night of hot sex for his birthday. Brayleigh was that girl. But neither one of them could get the other out of their head. Then something happens that changes things even more between them. Will they be able to realize what is right in front of them? Will Carter be able to put aside his fear and give Brayleigh a chance. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Carter and Brayleigh. Steamy hot not just in bed either. This was a story about getting a second chance at making the right decision. Well written enjoyable to read.

This is a good quick read about finding the one when you aren’t looking and really trying to figure out what you want in your own life.

I liked Carter and had no clue why he kept pushing Brayleigh away until he finally confesses what is going on with him. The two of them had so much chemistry and there was definitely lots of sex!

It was interesting that with what happened to Brayleigh we learn a little bit more about her life but I still found it kind of glossed over with her dad solving most things for her. I would have liked Brayleigh doing more for herself as I don’t think I even picked up if she had a career or not.

I thought the scene at the hotel was sad but funny on how everything got mixed up with the phone call to the fire station but I was glad that they were able to work everything out.

Everything progressed super fast between them but the story was enjoyable.

This was a fun one night stand - commitment phobia short story. I love the sassy rich girl / blue collar fun taken over by fate.

This specific video review will be included in the June 2019 wrap-up.

This was a sassy and sweet quick read that had me giggling and swooning during every page. These two are from such two totally different worlds but they make sense when they are together even though they fight it the whole way. This book is very sizzling with lots of passion and realizations for both of them in what they want in life. I think I enjoyed that the most about this book. If you want a quick scorching read, I recommend this one!
