I don’t always review picture books, but this one is hilarious!! My new favorite. I read it to my classes of ALL ages (including Jr. High), and even created connections to Pink Shirt Day. The kids LOVED the book & many of my younger students have chosen to re-read it on their own. We even created our own potato pants drawings in Grade 3/4 Art.

This book has a great message about how your assumptions can be wrong and hurtful. I really enjoyed this and I'm glad
Spoiler that Potato found it in himself to forgive Eggplant, and in turn was rewarded with potato pants.
Definitely one I would read at story time!

Silly book that makes me smile. Just say potato pants and you can’t help grinning from ear to ear.

I love Laurie Keller's books! They are have just enough adult humor to keep both parents and children engaged as they read. I loved the idea of a "tuber uber" and also of potato's wearing pants and doing the "po-bot" instead of the robot dance. Good book about forgiveness and how being unforgiving can stop you from enjoying the things you want to enjoy the most. Including potato pants!

I laughed out loud myself a few times while reading this, and enjoyed imagining how students would react to this story. I have seen it recommended in Facebook groups many, many times, and several librarians have posted photos of their students' potatoes-- in decorated fancy pants!

Laurie Keller definitely has a lock on quirky food picture books. In this one Potato is anxious to get to the store during the Potato Pants sale so he can get (spoiler) Potato Pants. His plans are foiled by Eggplant who already has pants but is still hanging around the store. Potato wants none of that since Eggplant already knocked him down once. But how will he get his pants then?! This is a quick story about apologizing, making friends, vegetables, and the pants they wear.
